ParticipantAnyone seen or know anything about this film? It looks a bit, well you know… not good.

ParticipantYeah, it looks like expoitative garbage. I think the fact that tapes of the “possessed” Annaliese Michel are on youtube is obscene enough, without goons producing a film that seems to be based on the case. To capitalize on the real horrors of the Michel case – neural disorder aggravated by medical incompetence and clerical superstition – is a downright nasty thing to do.

ParticipantI agree. At least The Exorcism of Emily Rose had the decency to change the name and just losely base it on the tragic case. Like you said Michel's case was medical and the makers of this film either chosed to ignore that fact or just didn't care enough to find out properly. Either way it's shameful.

ParticipantLike I said, The Exorcist is the one and only real demonic possession film.

ParticipantI never saw this promo. I have written so many times on here about Annaliese Michel and this tragic event perpetrated by her own family and reinforced by the church and the medical community. The combination of the family’s religion and the diocese’s power literally eliminated the necessary medical treatment she so desperately needed.
If you ever have time, it is worth some research about how religion and the power of suggestion can influence a mentally ill individual and drive them to their death as witnesses turns their blind eyes to the reality that unfolded before them.

Oh, God.. No.
Someone should do a documentary or a drama that is a memorial for poor Anneliese, whose basis is compassion and whose main thrust is non-sensationalistic. There is a German film based on the case, I don't recall its title, but maybe that particular film is a more compassionate treatment (judging from a trailer I saw long ago) …

Participant“Requiem” is the film, it's very low key, very compassionate totally non sensational and really very good.

ParticipantThanks, jagged. I'll try to get hold of this film. I am relieved that it's not an exploitation movie 🙂
