ParticipantHi!
I am the associate producer of a new documentary on the life of actor and playwright Jason Miller (who you all know best as Father Damien Karras). The film is called Miller's Tale, and it will begin airing on PBS stations in March. DVDs will also be available soon. Of particular note to Exorcist fans is that it features an interview with director William Friedkin, who talks about casting the Father Karras role and about his experiences with Jason Miller.
To watch our new trailer, just go http://www.millerstalemovie.com. And to stay up to date on broadcast and screening dates/times, you can 'like' us on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/millerstale, or follow us on twitter: “millers_tale”. We'd love to hear feedback from true Exorcist fans like us! 🙂
Here is a synopsis of the film:
  ÂÂ
“It's difficult getting to the top; it's more difficult staying there.” – Jason Miller, 1973Best known as Father Karras in The Exorcist, Jason Miller experienced a brief but brilliant period of national acclaim, then curiously abandoned Hollywood to return to his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. The town reveled in the presence of its local celebrity but not many understood why he had come back. Why did this Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who experienced such explosive beginnings never write a Broadway play again? And what happened to Jason in Hollywood that would make him run away?
When Miller died in 2001, filmmaker and Scranton native, Rebecca Marshall Ferris set out with a camera to find some answers. Through a personal and intimate narrative, Miller’s Tale examines the themes that weave our lives together: dreams of success, personal failure, passion for art, and small town pride. Featuring Martin Sheen, Paul Sorvino, Stacy Keach, Bruce Dern, and William Friedkin. Funded by the Independent Television Service.
