Seems foreshadowing (Capt. Howdy demon face whom he will soon encounter; he will encounter his “mother”-manifestation in Regan; the dogs show he will participate in Merrin’s ancient battle) – coupled with his personal concerns (guilt over his mother, “losing” his mother in the subway system)…

I’ve pointed out some weeks ago about the karras’s dream. Well, Granville1 just have given a good interpretation. However, the FACT OF SUCH COMBINATIONS: MOTHER, DOGS, THE MEDAL, ETC, makes us TO US ALSO REMEBER some very stranges dreams we had in the past.
I had really very bad dreams in the past, sometimes I dreamt with my relatives, It was really so sad.
Particularly, the Karras’s dream it have something to do with each one of us, naturally in some extent. I think it.

In the dream, the medal is falling slowly, when it lands on the ground. looks like it lands on a hard surface, like where the Hitchcock stairs are located. Go figure. A forshadowing of where Karras will end up dead.

Very cool thought colombiancannon. I’ll view from that angle next time.

I agree with colombiancannon, I always saw this as foreshadowing Karras’ demise.

It’d be interesting to hear some interpretations of Father Karris’s dream. I don’t want anything you may have read. I want to know what you really think. Anybody up for it?
    😉 I know, I haven’t posted mine yet.

Granville got it right, its an expression of his feeling of guilt, he ran but she was gone before he could get to her. Interesting theory about the stairs, but thats kind of a stretch. There are lots of hard surfaces.

My two cents on FR. Karras dream is the following . I do agree that Karras had an enormous amount of guilt , that is evident on subway scene of him and his mother. One can see the desparation on Karras face and manarisims when he see his mother and his mother pays him no mind or ignores him because she is angry at him. IE(Like she was in the hospital, she was inconsolable and i take she was pissed at him for leaving her there.THUS THE GUILT) I interpret his mother turning around slowly towards the subway and going down the the stairs as her slow demise and Karras not able to help her. Even though he sees her in need he is helpless to save her and to make it all good.
I also think that the demon attacks him in this way to soften him up per say. The demond knows the players involved in this game long before Karras even is aware of it.My 2 cents are in and thats my take on FR.Karras dream.
