Actually a couple of nights ago I had a really weird dream, not really a nightmare, about the Exorcist. I was living with a friend of mine and we were sharing a room. Somehow, she got the cuts all over her face and I was like, “Well, you should probably let me at least clean those out,” so I did and after I was done I said, “You’re probably gonna get really possessed now, so I’m not sleeping in here. They’re coming in to strap you down.” It was one of the weirdest I’ve had in a while…and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. I haven’t seen the movie in a good month.
The nightmares used to be really bad, especially when I first saw the film at the tender age of 12, and I slept in my parent’s room for longer than I care to admit. I haven’t had a full blown nightmare in years now, this one’s as close as I’ve gotten. I just woke up with that ‘weird’ feeling.
My favorite part of the exorcism scene would have to be when possessed Regan spits at Merrin and it hits his face. The way he wipes it off is just so nonchalant (I think in the book it describes it as ‘unhurriedly’). Kind of like, “Oh, is this all you’ve got? Well, whatever.” Every time I see that scene, I want to scream, “Ahh! Get that filth off of your face!!” But he’s just so calm…it’s very eerie.
Hey all, long time lurker first time poster. It’s funny you should mention trying out for a part in the mini-series, Father. My brother and I have been joking that I should audition for the part of Regan. I’m 21, but most people tell me I look no older than 13 (I’m 5 foot nothin’ with a baby face). Yes, I have braces (totally a curse right now… I’ve almost been kicked out of countless bars already, and I’ve only been 21 since October). We both thought it would be a cool thing if I could get the part, y’know no child labor laws or anything like that to worry about, but I’m pretty sure I don’t have the cajones. First, for the simple fact that it’s the Exorcist, my fave of all time and I know I couldn’t do it justice, and second I couldn’t see myself enjoying being flung around on a bed, the whole crucifix scene, etc etc. That’s not to say I wouldn’t try if it were the right place at the right time… haha.
But all kidding aside, I absolutely LOVE this site, and these forums have been a great help in finding any recent news and cool stuff I’d be interested in. Thanks to Captain Howdy for having it up and running!
