Oh shut up, I’m not fucking stupid. I know what kids are like, funnily enough I was one, one who knew things I ‘shouldn’t’. Where in my post did I give any impression that that I believed in that kind of bullshit? You onyl have to talk to someone who is now in their 40s or above to know that kids now are much more informed than they ever were. I’m not saying at all that they didn’t know, they did, but they will agree that kids now are much more precocious and inform. All I’m saying is, why is it so hard to believe that she might not have known what it meant?
I was ‘raised’ a Catholic, in that I was baptised by parents who aren’t exactly practising, but being young when they had me, having me baptised scored some points with their Irish and Italian families. So Catholicism is strong in my family, especially from my Grandparents. I went to Catholic schools, but I’ve been an atheist since I was very young, so no I don’t believe in possession. I enjoy The Exoricist film and novel as wonderful examples of storytelling and characterisation.
A big part of me would like to have some kind of religious faith, and I deeply admire those who do, so long as they are no infringing other’s lives. But I am too much of a skeptic.
She said she raised as a Christian. Everything she says, she says in the past tense, refering to her upbringing. She makes no mention of her current religious belief.
I don’t understand why it’s so hard to believe that she didn’t know what she was doing. You can’t measure children now, being as precocious and aware as they are, with kids over 30 years ago. I don’t find it so hard to believe that she was just following a script. She might say ‘Fuck’ but it doesn’t mean she knows what it conotes.
