It’s been about 6 months. like you I’m holding out for the blu ray.
But even when i get that I may have to wait longer. I’m in the process of moving (have been for months) and my amp and speakers are in one house whilst my TV and player are in another.
There’s no way i can watch it until the components are all together.The Dutch are warm, pleasant, easy going and possessed of a fine sense of humour.
Nothing wrong with you at all. One of my favourite nations.I really like it. Much better layout, got some breathing space on my monitor now rather than all being cramped over one side.
I think the truth is at that age Linda was not an accomplished enough actress to put across such subtle emotional inflection. It was plainly an awful lot to ask a 12 year old to carry such a complex movie, so it was probably wise to simplify the character.
I also think the quality of her acting had a lot to do with some of the scenes that were excised from the movie by Friedkin before release. Doctor’s Office etc.
Reading between the lines of what was being said at the press conference regarding “knowing when the film was something special” I have a suspicion that there was some trepidation on everyone’s part as to the success of the piece until Mercedes McCambridge came on board. It goes some way to explaining why Friedkin was frantically editing right up to the last minute before release.DamienKarras said:

Yes it’s the broadcast version can’t remember offhand how long exactly, but it comes in at under 80 mins which makes no sense for a UK time slot but there you go. Want a copy?

It’s not a perfect copy by any means and there are a few blips as it’s from a VHS. Amusingly it only runs a few minutes longer than the DVD documentary which shows that my memory must be crap after all 😉 Comes as a 2 disk set with “The Curse of the Exorcist” and “Didn’t You Used to be Satan?”Anyway, anyone wants it drop me private message with your address and I will run you off a copy for the price of postage paid to my paypal account.
To make Karras wonder if she was truly possessed, crazy as a box of frogs or just faking it.
If you read the passage in the book it follows Karass’ train of thought as he questions Regan and she answers him. the demon seemingly reads his mind during the process and switches language and level of vocabulary to confound him.
