ParticipantYikes! And you never hit REM sleep in order to recall these (or you were awoken by an alarm or other means).

ParticipantHa, I love that and commend all of you for giving this film a try at that age. Sound like all of you have the mental fortitude to understand this film very well!

The nightmares used to be really bad, especially when I first saw the film at the tender age of 12, and I slept in my parent’s room for longer than I care to admit.
You seem to be the same age I was when I first saw the film. Yes, nice tender age to put a heavy film like that in front of your eyes. ๐

ParticipantSof,
We’ll go to DC together … perhaps in the Spring …

ParticipantHey Sof,
No fear, I’m right here. Your imagination is so incredible … I love that in you. Keep up the good work.

ParticipantHere ya go รขโฌยฆ I just took “its” picture in my office. This is the original one you see in the upper left-hand corner of the picture of Ripley (below). I’ve had “it” for many, many moons now. It’s a great way to keep children and young adults out of my office (although I do see a lot of fingerprints on the box).
(As I’ve said, I have boxes everywhere since I moved THREE YEARS AGO! Too much work, not enough time!) Maybe Regan will show up soon in an unpacked box.

ParticipantIt’s real! It’s real! ๐

ParticipantJagged,
The only real nightmare I had about the film is the scene where Blair looks into the camera … just like your avatar! Friedkin knew what he was doing by creating a real connection between the demon and the viewer.

ParticipantI wouldn’t buy any “wooden nickels” after 37 years! ๐
I own the actual chest burster (the black one that comes out of Weaver’s upper abdomen) from Aliens … but I don’t think that counts. Oh, and somewhere buried in boxes I have an original life mask created by Dick Smith’s crew of Blair in demon makeup. This is a positive impression from the negative mold (I think I have one of those, too). Who knows, I’ve purchased and sold so much Hollyweird stuff over the years that I’m confused on where things are (except the Alien chest burster that’s in my office looking at me as I type this … ugly little thing).

ParticipantAs a tag: of course there is no proof of such a paper. However, I find it interesting that this person was using either The Exorcist (novel or film) or exorcism as their thesis (I believe it was a thesis).
Does anyone remember where this person started asking about that thread for his paper?

ParticipantAh, yes, I too remember that. However, I believe the blogster asked a few questions and vanished. I was looking forward to the paper, too.
