Participantfraroc, Steve actually showed to the best of his ability (with the software he has) a more vivid version of what WPB actually wrote. Steve, perhaps fraroc's comment is geared more toward the written word translated by you versus an insult to the product you produced. It's a fine job considering the limitations of your software!

ParticipantLOL! ShiBri MacFonLaine! How befitting a name that would be for an actress.

ParticipantYou crack me up, Sof! Okay, she's the one and only Shirley MacLaine-Fonda!Â

Thanks Fatherb, Steve! 😀
Omg, Bridget Fonda?? I tried to make her look like Shirley as much as possible lol, but now that you mentioned Single White Female I kind of see the resemblance! 😉
Steve, have you watched Death Dreams?
It's really odd, but she does look like Bridget Fonda, doesn't she? If there was a remake (for television only), perhaps Fonda is old enough now to play Chris yet I'm not really sure if she can pull of the emotional part like Burstyn did.
This makes my 1,200 post BTW!Â

ParticipantYou're right. People were so pissed off at how ridiculous the film was. Nothing could save it, including Richard Burton (although he was hammered most of the time during the production as usual). If you really enjoy the film, I get it and understand why you would be ticked if others laughed. The same thing happens when newer audiences see the original film on the big screen. I guess it all depends on how we view something exceptional while others kick our beliefs through laughter.

ParticipantOh, God, I wanted Blair to puke green bile in Airport 75. Like all the films, she has a few very small scenes that don't require any acting except for imitating the pain she's in because of her kidneys (naturally, I wanted her to pee on Sister Ruth). Why was Blair in another film with Catholic characters?

ParticipantThanks, Sof. I guess that would have solved the question about Regan's awareness of the exorcism, yet it would have ruined the mystique. I'm honestly glad Friedkin (not Blatty) asked for so many cuts to the script because it reinforces Friedkin's belief that viewers should take away something good or bad from the film. (Not in those words, of course, because Friedkin's are more lofty).

ParticipantThat's true, too. So, was Regan aware of what was going on? Is Regan a witness to what’s going on while her body is being ravished by a myriad of individuals that Pazuzu brought forward to weaken the others; e.g., Chris and Karras? “Help me” is quite a statement. However, was it Regan or just another ploy by Pazuzu to strengthen Karras' belief that Regan is truly possessed, thus bringing his true nemesis, Father Merrin, to the scene?

ParticipantThat is a great scene and I feel the same away about Regan being present (see my post above). That scene has strong correlations with the inception of the possession when we hear Regan's voice and demon's voice intermixed; i.e., the “fuck me” scene.

ParticipantThat's true … or he could have been reeling over the income still pouring in from the novel and film. We should all have such good luck!

ParticipantSteve, that's true about EII. WB cashed in on their original investment by releasing that horrid film that went through several revisions even while it was in production. Ultimately, it was a flop, laughable, and disappointing. Like any writer, I'm sure Blatty never considered that his novel would have such sales or that his novel would become an incredible motion picture that raked into that much money. It was and is a phenomenon. I can’t recall exactly why Blatty was not interested in writing the follow-up script other than he made a complete, whole, stand-alone film.

ParticipantJustin,
WOW! I'll bet you felt like it was Christmas already when you received 40 mags on the film! This is good news about this particular magazine. I can't wait to see your scans (you know mine always look like hammered dog shit!).Â
