ParticipantWill do. PS: Here’s a site with “all” the bloopers, but I didn’t search it enough yet to find the Ouija Board one:
http://www.moviemistakes.com/film438
I especially like this one:
“After he stirs it, Det. Kinderman lifts the spoon out of his coffee as he starts to talk to Chris at the dinner table. A perfect reflection of the cameraman can be seen in the left of the spoon.”
Have to look for it now!

ParticipantGreat example, mad, and actually this is what I remember learning at the universities that I have attended … particularly in Human Anatomy & Physiology. Just as atrophy can take over, it would not be all to uncommon for the extraordinary strength to take over as in the case you mention.
Of course, we’re talking about Regan who’s possessed in the film and she is consumed by a master demon with great strength. It doesn’t matter that the body is a 12-year-old girl’s …

ParticipantHere’s an interesting link I found immediately after one search (one of many that I found on MPD’s). This isn’t an uncommon aspect of the psychological taking over the physiological:
“Even more noteworthy are the biological changes that take place in a multiple’s body when they switch personalities. Frequently a medical condition possessed by one personality will mysteriously vanish when another personality takes over.
“Dr. Bennet Braun of the International Society for the Study of Multiple Personality, in Chicago, has documented a case in which all of a patient’s subpersonalities were allergic to orange juice, except one. If the man drank orange juice when one of his allergic personalities was in control, he would break out in a terrible rash. But if he switched to his nonallergic personality, the rash would instantly start to fade and he could drink orange juice freely.
“Allergies are not the only thing multiples can switch on and off. If there was any doubt as to the control of the unconscious mind has over drug effects, it is banished by the pharmacological wizardry of the multiple. By changing personalities, a multiple who is drunk can instantly become sober. Different personalities also respond differently to different drugs.
“Braun records a case in which 5 milligrams of diazepam, a tranquilizer, sedated one personality, while 100 milligrams had little or no effect on another.”
I’ve known this for many, many years and it only adds to the blog post about extraordinary strength. Enjoy!

What’s more interesting is that Chris Costner Sizemore, even after she had been “cured,” had many more bouts of others “personalities” taking over her body and she declared that those who knew her and examined her would note that one would have a rash, one would be prone to severe hiccups, one could get easily get drunk on a half glass of wine, while another could drink you under the table.
I still find it amazing how humans across the globe call something one thing while others call it another.
Sweet mystery of life …

ParticipantJP, I’m not sure if Mike’s old shows are anywhere to be found. I did do a quick search of youtube and nothing came back. It’s really amazing to see her read the script using the voice. Pure Talent!

ParticipantHey dsea,
I did do a search on youtube, but I came up with only the link above. The scene itself is cool … do you have the DVD? Maybe I (or someone else) can point to the time for you. Also, do you have both versions of the DVD (that might help)?
fatherbowdern
ParticipantWow, columbian, do you have a link? I’d love to see it.
fatherbowdern
ParticipantColumbian, are you using Google Earth for the address at 36th and M Streets, NW,
Washington, DC 20008? If so for Google Earth, here’s a link to pan zoom for an aerial view (it reads “Exorcist House and Stairs”). Pan through it … I still don’t see much except the new roof and perhaps a large pool in the backyard. Maybe the famous steps are to the left? Let me know what you think. Also, do you remember what site you used to find a better view?http://www.gearthhacks.com/dlfile20735/Exorcist-House-and-Stairs.htm

ParticipantHiya dsea, I’m not sure at all about flickr … it may be a freebie too, colombian. Thanks for pointing it out dsea.

ParticipantI think the boarded window is there to reinforce the exorcism and the plunge of death on the steps. As far as a timeframe, they never mention how long it’s been since the exorcism and the move out … even the weather is the same … cloudy and cold … so it looks like autumn.
The house is really confusing from the outside and the inside. I’ve watched the camera pan from far off to the up-close shot of the back of the house and a partial view of the right-hand-side (front, in other words) and I still don’t see the Hitchcock steps. Maybe there should be blueprints to figure out what’s going on and where. I know they built an additional exterior the real house to lead the steps, but it still doesn’t show up in the film very well; e.g., when Karras makes his leap, it appears that the steps are directly below Regan’s window, but in the finale the steps appear to be across the street. Confusing, ain’t it?

Participantdsea … here’s a link to the video, but it’s just the initial part of the scene. Her transformation comes right after the bulging throat … watch the DVD and you’ll see what Columbian is talking about.
Enjoy:

ParticipantNo problem. I thought you might enjoy “seeing” the real Pazuzu! 🙂

Participant“What an excellent day for an exorcism.”

ParticipantColombian … have you tried making a scan and putting it on youtube or myspace? I think these are the el cheapo way to go. Does anybody else have a way to do this? I’m semi-PC literate, but technology is going wonderfully rampant. 🙂

ParticipantHey JP,
Check out the link (June 2006 Archives) right here on CaptainHowdy.com. Howdy has three videos of McCambridge:
RARE VIDEO FOOTAGE: Mercedes McCambridge demonstrates the voice of Pazuzu
She’s incredible to listen to. I kept thinking they were dubbing her voice, but she actually did a demonstration of her talent by reading a portion of the demon-voice script on the Mike Douglass Show in the 70’s.

ParticipantColumbian, both great catches! Thanks for pointing these out and your great attitude on this blog!
