There were/are video clips on this website of the excerpts of McCambridge reaclling her role of the demon’s voice in the film.
This WAS definitely a part of the FOG, yet I have no idea why Kermode, or the others in charge of production, edited her out of the full presentation. It could potentially be the fact that she sued WB for the lack of giving her a film credit. McCambridge went on the rampage on every public venue and lambasted Friedkin because he insisted the voice was that of Linda Blair. I remember that very clearly in my youth.

Thanx for the links Father B. The 3 clips of Mercedes that Captain Howdy posted here are down at the moment. I have read that other small bits were edited out of the original BBC TV showing besides Mercedes, so I figured I should search for the whole show and not just the Mercedes bits. I am just trying to complete my collection of Exorcist stuff and this is my last piece!
The original broadcast version was 90 minutes. It was edited to fit on the available space on either the VHS or the DVD.
*The original FOG BBC version that aired was 74 minutes (according to IMDB).
*The 25th Anniversary DVD include the FOG at 74 minutes (according to my DVD).
*We have a 32-minute version on here.
*I have only seen three edited clips of Mercedes McCambrige that could not account for the other missing 15 minutes of film in totality.

It’s a bit of a conundrum but as far as I recall, yes it was 90 minutes long. I watched it and I recorded it. It aired on the BBC so there were no ad breaks.
The 74 minutes the IMDB refers to is the released version on VHS/DVD I believe, not sure whether PAL or NTSC though (it affects the running length).
Programs in the UK have to fit into allotted time slots and 74 minutes just isn’t common.
The IMDB is notoriously inaccurate.
Sadly I can’t tell what if anything else was missing as it’s been so long since I saw the original.
Of course i could be wrong, but I’m 99% certain I’m not. If only I could find that damned recording…At last it looks like I may have found myself a complete version. I should have it on DVD sometime soon. Shall post the running time as soon as I can confirm it. I will happily burn copies for people at cost once I get my hands on it, they will be region 2 though.
