ParticipantNo problem, Cap. You’re right about all of us fans. There’s so much going on now that I have a hard time keeping up with all the great news about this event and the BR release.
It’s sure to be a good time over the next few weeks!

ParticipantHi guys. I’m a newbie here and this is my first post.
Just wanted to add that I too am greatly looking forward to seeing “The Scariest Movie of All Time” on the big screen again (last time I saw it there was 10 years ago).
I have bought my tickets to see it twice in a row on Sept 30th…Luckily my theater is showing it at both 7pm AND again at 10:30pm, so I get TWICE the fun!! I can’t wait!!
I also can’t wait for this new Blu-Ray release on Oct 5th!!
What excellent days for…you know!!

ParticipantWelcome, Barry!
My local theater is doing midnight, 7:30, and 10:30 showings. I would venture out for the midnight one, but I wanted to see the audience reactions of some audience members who’ve probably never seen the flick before.
Thirty days and counting!

ParticipantLUCKY! =P
I think going would have pissed me off a little though =/September 2, 2010 at 3:17 AM #23024fatherbowdern
ParticipantDamien,
I’m in grading hell, so why would you be pissed off? (Obviously, I’m having “mental connection” problems!)

ParticipantIt’s a stupid reason, since it’s a special movie for me it would just make me mad to see other people go who have never seen it before to get scared and.. Such. I just really don’t like many people, stupid., I know haha.

That’s fantastic, Father, that you found a theater with a Midnight showing in addition to the 7:30 & 10:30 ones…Do you mind if I ask what theater that is??

ParticipantBarry,
Check with your local Cinemark if you have one like I do. I’m on the east coast near D.C. My Cinemark doesn’t even list some of other oddball times like Midnight, morning, or afternoon showings. Yes! That’s right! The Exorcist is showing all during the day instead of just 7:30PM and 10:30PM!
I found out that some of the other NCM theater chains (AMC, Cinemark, and Regal) are now cashing in on other times during the day like this one in Charlotte, NC. That theater is now publicly adding 2:39PM and 3:37PM in addition to other show times. If you live on the west coast, you can even catch a morning viewing at 11:22AM here.
I guess WB severely underestimated how many fans would fill theaters to see this on the big screen again (or for the first time) with its newly upgraded digital enhancements and added bonus features after the film is over. After all, it is The Exorcist! 🙂
Bottom line, Barry. Call your local theater and ask because that’s how I found out about the Midnight showing here.

ParticipantI need to add a postscript to my reply above:
Many of the theaters are now removing show times like Midnight, 7:00PM, 10:30PM, etc. as the theaters sell out, which makes sense. Also, Midnight means 12:00AM when 9/30/2010 begins. I know. You already know that, but I thought I would add that as good measure so no one would be looking for tickets after 9/30/10. But, again, who knows. WB and NCM Fathom (or even local theaters) could extend the show times to milk this almost 40-year-old classic!

ParticipantThanks so much for all the info Father. I tend to think that more and more theaters and showtimes will be listed as the current showings sell out, and we draw closer to Sept 30th.
Ahhh…What excellent days Sept 30th and Oct 5th will be!!

ParticipantThe Exorcist is playing in a theater in the next town over from where I live Emeryville,California. I would love to see the movie but it plays at 7:00 pm and everybody I know is too scared to see The Exorcist with me. I remember the first time I saw The Exorcist was in 1974. I was living in St.Louis at the time and my Mom took me and some of my friends to the drive-in to see it. I thought the movie scary but what I like about the drive-in is that you don’t have to walk through a darkened theater after the movie is over with. It would be great if fans of The Exorcist could have a cult following like fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and dress up like their favorite character from the movie. The only thing about that is that my favorite character in The Exorcist is the demon Pazuzu. Pazuzu would be a difficult character for me because I would have to grow at least another 5 feet, have a behind that sits on top of my wings and be bow-legged and knock-kneed too.

ParticipantTo AllBahianGirl: You forgot one more thing that you would need to dress up like Pazuzu…A strap-on!!…LOL!!!
I guess I would dress up like Jason Miller, since Father Karras is my fave.

ParticipantAah I forgot the strap-on for the part of Pazuzu. Maybe I can make one of those phalluses out of plaster like Regan did in The Exorcist and stick it on. I wonder how Regan made those phalluses she used to desecrate the state of Jesus in the church without being caught? It must have been when she was downstairs in the playroom in between making birds for her mother. I wonder where she hid them though until she could leave the house and sneak to the church? I bet Sofia would know the answer to that one.
