It ranks at the highest level on my own personal list of one of the greatest films ever made. As far as horror/mystery films, it wins hands down as the greatest film ever made.
I personally believe it woudl be a high contender for the greatest film ever madfe, probably narrowly beaten by other classics like 2001: A Space Oddysey and The Godfather.
I maintain that The Exorcist is The Godfather of horror movies.
Without a doubt The Exorcist is the greatest horror film ever made.
I definately agree it is the greatest horror film of all time, The Godfather is a true classic aswell, not too sure about 2001 though, but i am a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, especially The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut.

I like The Shining as well. Eyes Wide Shut had too many CGI’d inserted objects due to Kubrick’s death at post-production. IOW, I would have loved the film if it had the NC-17 rating as Kubrick envisioned. You can’t mess with perfection.
Yeah. Didn’t they release the unedited version of Eyes Wide Shut in Europe? Pretty sure they released the US version in Canada (what a surprise). Is the original cut not available on DVD in North America?
Yes … the R2 DVD (Europe) is uncut without the CGI objects used in the R1 DVD (U.S.) during the orgy scene.
