ParticipantI would hope that the members of this site have more respect for the film than to illegally download it to Youtube so someone could watch it for free.
Try another store. Or a Blockbuster.
Either way, the movie is crap, so you’re not missing anything anyway.

ParticipantIt IS a terrrible film, but worth watching once in order to get it over with and out of one’s system (unless they enjoy it, of course — many do; I, however, find it incredibly taxing and usually turn it off sometime during the Cairo scene; it’s quite an exercise to get through; brutally dull).
Anyway, if you’re a fan of the series, it’s worth renting (America)/hiring (Australia)/etc. (everywhere else), but it may be more cost effecive to pick it up on Amazon or eBay; I’ve seen it a hundred times going for $0.01 plus shipping; less than $5 total! You get what you pay for.
To be honest, it’s worth seeing; just know that you’ve got a 50% chance of liking it or hating it (there’s generally no in-between).
As for YouTube, I think you’ll find disappointment in watching even such an awful film there, with that small screen and getting chopped into so many parts. If you want to see a movie as terrible as Exorcist: The Beginning, experience it as it was meant to be experienced, for that instant gratification of liking it… or, if you’re in that other 50%, hating the living hell out of it.
At the minimum, buying, renting, and watching the film raises awareness of the other Exorcist prequel (easily arguably the GOOD ONE — Paul Schrader’s Dominion), so by all means give Exorcist: The Beginning a chance. The casts and crews of both films will appreciate it. The two prequel films are practically companion pieces.
Ultimately I think E:TB is forgettable, but it to its credit, it features a Byzantine church/architecture, an almost compelling opening scene, and one decently acted scene by James “Ghostbuster In Training” D’arcy. And Skarsgard, despite everything, makes the best of his role as Indiana Jones’ English-Dutch cousin who wields crucifixes instead of whips in his quest for something belonging in a museum. Lastly, Izabella Scorupco is a pretty lady (until the end). And, Vittorio Storaro does the lighting.
So there are some reasons to see the film. However you decide to see it, ENJOY, and report back!

ParticipantThe Movie wasn’t that bad. I rate it as fair. It was better than that dull over rated “Dominion”.
Father Lamont,
If you want, I’ll either upload what ever scene you’re looking for or I can dirrect you to a Torrent site that has the entire movie for download.

KeymasterRatBoy, Father Lemont,
I respect your desire to 1) see the film, and 2) want to provide help for a fellow Exorcist fan. Hell, we all know everybody downloads everything (and they’ve already made event dollar they could possible squeeze out of The Beginning…) however, I cannot allow CaptainHowdy.com to be seen as condoning this type of discussion. The bottom line is, it IS illegal. Please feel free to continue your conversation privately in email or IM outside of this site.
I know you will understand and respect my decision to lock this topic.
Nothing personal – I just don’t want my website shut down because of discussion topics such as these.

ParticipantI understand completley. RatBoy, could you send me your email? That would be much appreciated but I wouldn’t want to get Howdy in trouble. God knows we love this site too much.
The scenes I was looking for are the ones with Izabella Scurpco being possessed and the exorcism. I would like to make a fan cut using most of DOMINION’s movie, but having the character of Sarah being possessed in the end instead of CheChe. When she’s possessed, it could pass as Clara Bellar.

ParticipantI’m sorry Captain. That was pretty careless of me. I didn’t mean to bring any heat here.
I don’t seem to have any e-mail or PM functions here.
Father Lamount, e-mail me at:

ParticipantMy email is not working! I hate the internet sometimes. Below is the email I tryed to send you RatBoy. PLEASE FORGIVE ME HOWDY BECAUSE THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.
RatBoy, I have never seen the movie, but the clips I would like to see are about from the time Izabella (Sarah) becomes possessed and the final exorcism. I know it dosen’t sound great, but I wanted to do a fan cut of DOMINION, but have the character of Clara Bellar being possessed instead of Cheche. It would have her with the knife and etc., and when Skarsgard figures it out, he will perform the exorcism on the character of Sarah (Rachel).
I know ut might not sound wonderful but it was just a crazy, corky idea I had that might be fun to watch. Even if you don’t think it’s a good idea, I would still love to see the scenes from the movie. YouTube is about the only way I can view videos. No Media Player will work for me, and it’s easy to upload videos onto YouTube. I would appreciate this so much if you could do this for another Exorcist fan. I will send the re-edit to you first thing when I complete it. You are so generous to do this for me and I would be willing to help with anything I could.
Best wishes and I hope to see the video soon.
Thanks Again,
Father LamontMarch 21, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16688Justin
ParticipantOnce you see her possessed scenes you will think again about this fan cut. The scenes would be completely out of place in Dominion, and just make no sense at all. Sarah dry-humps Merrin, crawls along the walls, runs down a cave like some silly CG monster from Scooby Doo, and a load of other silly things that just wouldn’t work in Dominion. Not to mention the whole church set is different, young Joseph is is most of the scenes, and Iza looks completely different to Clara Bellar

ParticipantI have to agree with you Justin, Even though this concept is not one I would do, I did for a while try in vain to get footage from both movies to mix and match, but it just dosn’t work beleavably, Thats why what I do have from ETB is kept to the absolute minimum.
March 23, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16697Greg
ParticipantWouldn’t it just be easier to just rent it and therefore no problems in legality and in seeing the film?
March 23, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16699Father Lamont
ParticipantDo you want to drive an hour to the next video store who has it? I just thought this would be an easy way to view the material to consider the re-edit.
