I once watched a televison show (Don’t remember which) in which they showed the spiderwalk footage before that version of the movie with the spiderwalk scene was released. In the movie that scene ends when Regan gets to the bottom of the stairs and spits out blood, but in the footage that i saw on the TV show once she reached the bottom of the stairs and spit blood she flipped over on all fours and started wiggling her long tongue and then proceeded to chase Sharon into the other room if i recall correctly. I think the biggest mistake they made when they added the spiderwalk footage was not to also add the other part of Sharon being chased.

I know the test footage of Eileen in Howdy makeup still exists. There was a person on the old CH.com site that had a copy circulating…not sure where he got his hands on it. Also Kermode commented on seeing the footage in his Exorcist book.

i posted this once before on the old site but i am obssed about this, i would love to see the original captain howdy test footage of eileen dietz’s scowling face. they showed a few seconds at the start of the fear of god doc and that was it!!! but for many fans this would sureley be like the holy grail of exorcist footage, the only person i can think of who has seen it would be mark kermode, lucky git! help and options or anyone who might have actually seen would be cool. the second would be to have a deluxe version of the exorcist out, as many of us want more of unseen stuff from the vaults which probally does exist, with this as special features on one disc and the film on the other disc, maybe this time with a DTS track. maybe fiction at the moment but in a few yrs who knows?
