dear faddah, I love when you ask questions about the novel.
Do you mean the scene in the movie when the derelict says, “could ya help an old altar boy, faddah?”
In the novel, he only says, “Hey, faddah, I’m a Cat’lic.” Karras is the one who thinks he’s going to say that line used in the movie.

I don’t know why this dawns on me now, but where on earth were Karl and Willie when Sharon had to go to the drugstore for Regan’s medications? I know we needed this setup to kill Burke Dennings, but this is a little far reaching even from a writer’s standpoint:

    1. Karl and Willie are out that late at night (doing what and with whom)? Hot date with each other?

    2. Why not send Burke’s driver (remember Burke’s drunk all the time and even that night) to get the meds? We know the driver’s a phone call away all the time for this important director.

    3. They had prescription home delivery even back then!

    4. Would Sharon really leave Regan alone with Burke knowing that he’s already hammered for the evening?

Oh, well, just another mystery about the mystery.

Thanks Sofia. Just out of curiosity, which line does the demon use when he repeats it back?
