Pagan
ParticipantI like the first one best because it’s the most scary of them all. There are also some really cool scenes like when the priest gets impaled by the spear and when that guy gets decapitated by the window

ParticipantI have to agree with Pagan. The kid in the 1st film was way creepy! Im sure his parents wish he really was adopted! Actually I havent seen Omen for ages. Must get hold of it then give you a better opinion.

ParticipantThe first one for me. The others just weren’t spooky enough for me.

ParticipantI don’t really remember the films. I’m going to have to watch them again soon (I guess you could call this spam :P)

ParticipantThe first and original entry will and forever remain the best, of course, although “The Final Conflict” is a superb piece of quiet and subtle horror, too, magnificently carried by Sam Neill and Jerry Goldsmith. “Damien II: The Serial Slasher” is, on the other hand, an insult to the series, barely better than that TV pseudosequel “Omen IV”, or the “Omen IV/V” books. Or, needless to say, than the remake is going to be…

ParticipantOne thing in favor of #2, Damien: it was the only truly human character development for Damien. He doesn’t take the news that he is the Antichrist well at all: “why me?!” or words to that effect. An identity crisis and a crisis of conscience. It’s the only issue of depth in the entire trilogy.
The Final Conflict had a superb “religious/spiritual” score for the Second Coming motif, and a sort of fundamentalistic grandeur re: the “new Christmas star”. But the rest was garbage, especially theologically: God’s “end time plan”, including the return of Christ, depends on an act of murder by purely human means. If the mother had not stabbed Damien – in the back, no less! – we are to think that God, playing by “Omen rules”, would have lost the ultimate battle. Sheer nonsense.

ParticipantGents, i’ll post a review of the Omen remake Friday, since i’m going to a press screening. The film doesn’t open till June 6 of course, but i’ll be sure to not spoil it for anyone..

That would be great… would you be able to review the music score too? Whoever the composer is, s/he will find Jerry Goldsmith’s original score for the first 3 Omen films a hard act to follow.

ParticipantWife and I just started to go through The Omen Trilogy + one and I hope I don’t step on any toes or hurt any feelings but we just could not get through Damien: Omen II without nodding off. What a friggin’ boring film.
My wife says that I ripped her off 107m. of her life and she wants it back. Now it’s the doghouse for me!!! Thanks Damien!June 8, 2006 at 11:59 PM #14870granville1
ParticipantI only liked the fleshing out of Damien’s character in O2 – it was the only meaningful, interesting thing in the whole trilogy – Damien discovers he’s the Antichrist and he’s not happy with the news.
O3’s only redeeming characteristic imho was Jerry Goldsmith’s lovely religious-sounding musical score – a departure from the “creepy” style of the first two films.

ParticipantOmen 1 and 2 are the best by a mile.

ParticipantPersonally I think they should have left it alone after the “The Omen” I’m sorry i just don’t like it when the story was messed with especially with the first movie having Damien with the president as his guardian… and then in the second movie… he’s with his uncle who own’s some big company…
