ParticipantAs I do believe Dominion needed some polishing (which I believe Hatter is out to accomplish), the strongest points of Dominion are involving the storytelling. The mixture of British colonialism, post-WWII/Halocaust era to the ‘getting better’ as oppose to getting sicker elements of the possession really gives it a nice facelift on the ideologies of possession/exorcism in general. It’s also a very classically directed film. Like Paul Schrader said, a film set in the 40’s needs to not only feel like the 40’s, but it has to look like it was made in the 40’s like in the case of Hitchcock’s Spellbound.

ParticipantRegarding Dominion’s soundtrack music – Badalamenti composed a nice theme. However, it is _extremely_ similar to the theme for War o f the Worlds. Not the Speilberg-John Williams movie, but the cheapo Brit production of the same year. Interesting coincidence – probably no plagiarism involved, just an odd coincidence.

ParticipantWas the theme heard in “The Beginning”?

ParticipantThe “theme” in The Beginning was “Flies Buzzing Around $#!+”. 😐
Dominion deserves a CD sountrack release. The sound(s)/music is one of its stregths; certainly the Dog Fashion Disco material. Love it!
Oh, and I need to see War of the Worlds now; intriguing. 🙂

KeymasterNeither The Beginning nor Dominion made enough money to warrant a soundtrack release.
Morgan Creek used Tubular Bells in their original teaser trailer. After that, however, they completely dropped the ball in every way you could possibly imagine. It was interesting watching a film completely come off its rails the way it did.

The theme I’m thinking of was not heard in The Beginning – it was specifically written by Badalementi for Dominion.

ParticipantI just now watched DOMINION for the first time. I was slighlty dissappointed at the lack of scares. My BIGGEST complaint is that it never featured the exorcist theme once. I and III had it. was it heard in The Beginning? Overall it was decent but not as good as I and III.
