All right, I’ve updated these pages as much as I think is humanely possible. Time for a break now, methinks.

    According to wikipedia:

Originally, Blatty wanted this film to follow events from the first Exorcist film, but not be a direct sequel. He wanted the film to have the same title as the book (Legion). During production the film was referred to as Exorcist: Legion (without the numerals). Morgan Creek changed the name to Exorcist III: Legion as well as write and shoot a new scene where an exorcism takes place in the mental ward. The original trailers refer to the film as The Exorcist 1990 (with the logo being the word “The” with “Exorcist” beneath it in a wider font and “1990” beneath it in the same narrow font as “The” making the image of a crucifix. Eventually the subtitle “Legion” dropped completely and the film was released as The Exorcist III.

I wonder where we’d be able to track down the trailers that depicted this?

P.S. I didn’t realize George C. Scott and Paul Schrader had worked together in the past:

I have it on my dvd… You must have a different version in your country. I can, at least, give you screencaps. I hope you find the trailer! I’d give you mine on youtube or something, but I don’t know how to do that.

I have the trailer that says “Legion”. I’m referring to this part, with “1990” on it:

The original trailers refer to the film as The Exorcist 1990 (with the logo being the word “The” with “Exorcist” beneath it in a wider font and “1990″ beneath it in the same narrow font as “The” making the image of a crucifix.

Also, I just gave in and bought a paperback copy of I’ll Tell Them I Remember You (don’t want to read the signed hardcover version I have), along with a copy of that Fangoria #94 issue, dealing with EIII. 😀

You can’t really trust anything from Wikipedia so it may not be true. I’d like to see it if it is, though.

I was outbid on an Exorcist III reel (trailer) a week or so ago. That may have contained it.

The UK Press Pack, US Press Kit and Fangoria magazines have arrived so far. Still waiting on the French lobby cards and paperback version of I’ll Tell Them I Remember You.

Meanwhile, the US press pack is wonderful. Contains all (or, most) of the b/w promo photos, as well as a shit load of promotional paper documents. It’ll take me a while to scan and upload it all.

    Also added the second out-take:

Incidentally, this is a bit silly:

Considering it was Dennings’ head that was spun around…
