ParticipantThanks for the review. Some of the backstory seems as excruciatingly boring and overstated as Lecter’s early life as depicted in the movie Hannibal Rising…

ParticipantWell Ratboy. Hasn’t anyone ever told you that downloading movies is illegal?
See, you didn’t see Rob Zombie’s Halloween. You saw the readily downloaded workprint. That is a completely different movie from the one shown in theaters. So you review is worthless right off the bat.
The scene you bitch about regarding the patient getting raped was cut for a much better scene involving people from the cast of “Devil’s Rejects”.
If you feel the need to pass down your wisdom to the rest of us, please do us all a favor and pay to see the actual movie you review instead of downloading the torrent.
Thank you……

ParticipantThanks for explicating that issue, etrigan… my praise for the post was unquantified by the data you just presented.

ParticipantI liked it. I liked Zombie’s first two movies.
I even liked Hannibal Rising O.K. although it was a rental. I didn’t invest a whole lot into it which may have helped.
Do I think the review would have been any different had he seen the actual movie? I doubt it. There seems to be two camps on this movie. Those that think it is absolute blasphemy to re-imagine this classic, and those that can enjoy it on it’s own merits.
I have watched the original not too long ago and while the vibe is still there, it is very dated.
If you hated his other movies because you think he is a shabby director then I doubt this movie is for you.
I enjoyed the new angles he gave to this movie and you do feel a sense of sympathy for the character. Not as much in the released version then in the workprint, but it is there.
I just don’t think it’s fair that the reviewer slagged a movie he hasn’t even seen.

ParticipantYup, good points all.

ParticipantFrom etrigan69:
“Well Ratboy. Hasn’t anyone ever told you that downloading movies is illegal?”
a.) Where and how I saw this lowgrade trashy movie is none of your business
b.) Captain Howdy does not want any discusions of downloading movies on his forum so I left subtle clues for the reader to what version that I am reviewing.
c.) I did come across a bootleg copy of the theater versions and would have written a revised review of that version but it was basically the same white trash, with no suspense and an uninspiring low grade fim production value….or shall I say “lack of valueâ€.
If your sole purpose is register here to defend you’re no-talent white trash Rob Zombie, you’re off to a bad start.
From etrigan69:
” you didn’t see Rob Zombie’s Halloween.”Yes I did and it was a terrible movie.
From etrigan69:
“You saw the readily downloaded workprint. That is a completely different movie from the one shown in theaters.”It’s the same movie with three different scenes changed with the more ridiculous version of those scenes being in the theaters because the suites at Dimenion studios (and we all know how untalented and creatively bankrupt those studio execs are) wanted a few change to avoid the NC 17 Rating.
So basically you had the original scenes (which was written by a no-talent hack,Rob Zombie) replaced by another scene written by no-talent hack studio execs.
Take your pic, both versions suck.
From etrigan69:
“So you review is worthless right off the bat.”Strong words from a Rob Zombie sycophant fanboy. Yeah and your review was sooo one sided. There was nothing articulated about your review. Just blinded fanboyish praise from a groupie…. unlike the fair and unbalanced and articulated review that I provided.
From etrigan69:
“The scene you bitch about regarding the patient getting raped was cut for a much better scene involving people from the cast of “Devil’s Rejectsâ€.”Yeah,.it’s a more unrealistic, ridiculous scene of Michael Myers breaking his chains like the incredible Hulk while being escorted by armed staff security. That scene is uploaded at youtube.
From etrigan69:
“If you feel the need to pass down your wisdom to the rest of us, please do us all a favor and pay to see the actual movie you review instead of downloading the torrent.”Doesn’t matter if I paid to see the movie (which is probably why you’re so upset) is because I didn’t shell out money to put into the pockets of an unimaginative hack like Rob Zombie.
Both versions of the movie (which are almost identicle shares the same flaws).

Participant69 Says:
“I liked it. I liked Zombie’s first two movies.”
Surprising [rolls eyes].
By admitting that you liked House of 1000 Corpse and Devils Rejects (two low grade trashy productions which bombed at the box office) you’re more or less saying that you like anything that has Rob Zombie’s name on it.
And what was that you were saying before about “My review is worthless right off the bat.” ?
considering that both versions of his Halloween movies are just about the same.
69 Says:
“I even liked Hannibal Rising O.K. although it was a rental. I didn’t invest a whole lot into it which may have helped.”It’s nice to see that Hannibal Rising gained at least gained one fan considering that it there’s virtually no one that liked that schlock.
And what was that you were saying before about “My review is worthless right off the bat” ?
69 Says:
“Do I think the review would have been any different had he seen the actual movie? I doubt it. There seems to be two camps on this movie. Those that think it is absolute blasphemy to re-imagine this classic, and those that can enjoy it on it’s own merits.”
Oh notice how you so happen to leave out the other camp… you know the ones that are people that are nothing more than Rob Zombie groupies that blindly praises anything he does.
And what was that you were saying before about “My review is worthless right off the bat” ?
69 Says:
“and those that can enjoy it on it’s own merits.”Perhaps you lack reading comprehension as well. As I clearly stated in my review… I came into this movie with the same open-mindedness as I did with Hallowenn III (The Michael Myer-less entry of the series) and I ended up liking Halloween III.
As I clearly stated it was Rob Zombie’s lack of skills as director to give suspense and the crappy dialogue as well as the meaningless gore and meaningless shock values and shaky Blair Witch cams and the carbon copy of Leather Face and Jason which was Rob Zombie’s interpretation of Michael Myers. Rob Zombie sucks as a director.
You really need to learn to read.
69 Says:
“I have watched the original not too long ago and while the vibe is still there, it is very dated.”This statement alone shows how much you don’t get the original.
How is it dated?
Is it because the characters doesn’t carry i-pods.
The original movie is timeless story.
But I guess you’re just a child that grew up with MTV values.
69 Says:
“If you hated his other movies because you think he is a shabby director then I doubt this movie is for you.”Shabby is an understatement. He’s a terrible director. His movies are all about hillbillies and white trash. He lacks the ability to create an atmosphere of suspense like you see on The Exorcist and the original Halloween.
69 Says:
“I enjoyed the new angles he gave to this movie and you do feel a sense of sympathy for the character. Not as much in the released version then in the workprint, but it is there.”Yeah what a great angle. Make the slasher who brutally murders 15 people sympathetic and make Laurie, a selfish whiny grating unsympathetic character.
Perhaps Rob Zombie should just re-imagine an anti Catholic The Exorcist and make the demon sympathetic and re-imagine Karras and Merrin unlikable sleazy alter boys molesting priests and Christy McNeal can be a sleazy slutty drug addicted mother that neglects her child.
And you would just keep on praising Rob Zombie while trashing the original Exorcist for being too date [rolls eyes]
69 Says:
“I just don’t think it’s fair that the reviewer slagged a movie he hasn’t even seen.”Learn to read fanboy!!!
I did see the movie.
No you’re just here to attack me and try to discredit me because you’re a Rob Zombie fanboy that couldn’t stand to read about my fair balanced negative review of Rob Zombie’s latest schlock.Perhaps you’d be more happy posting over at Rob Zombie’s MySpace page where the other like-minded groupies like yourself can continue to bow down and lick the dirt between Rob Zombie’s toes LOL

ParticipantSomeone is upset they got flat out busted. You watched and reviewed the workprint which wasn’t released by the director or the studio.
You have the orignal on such a pedestal, no one could have done it justice in your eyes. That is actually O.K. with me. That you know about Halloween part anything but #1 proves that. Next time just review the actual movie that was released. Not some half assed workprint that was not the final cut.
By the way, I can almost guarantee you I have been on this board quite a bit longer then you have. Not that it means anything. Oh yeah, I can also remember a time when MTV didn’t exist.
I see you are all butt-hurt about getting caught red-handed but that’s your own fault. if you feel the need to review new releases, at least pay to go see the damn thing. You ruined your credibility, not me……

ParticipantThis movie continues the tradition of PSYCHO and THE OMEN… remakes. Guess what I mean by this. 🙁
M.I.K.E.

ParticipantBoth versions of the film are crap IMO.
The prologue drags on for way too long, and is completely pointless because we’re meant to sympathize with him, but then later lead to believe he is just pure evil?
The rest of the film is just a bad imitation of the original (which I’ve never been of a fan of anyway). There’s no horror, suspense, atmosphere, or even decent kills.
There’s also absolutely no character development so I really couldn’t care less if he had a horrible family or was just pure evil, I wanted him to slash the stupid-ass characters up anyway..
Crap.

Participant69 Says:
“Someone is upset they got flat out busted. You watched and reviewed the workprint which wasn’t released by the director or the studio.”No one gives a shit what version I’m reviewing except for a childish whiny pathetic Rob Zombie sycophant like yourself.
Just about everyone agrees that both versions of Rob Zombie’s white trash production sucked. LOL
69 Says:
You have the orignal on such a pedestal, no one could have done it justice in your eyes. That’s because I and everyone else here has good taste and class.
We don’t need Rob Zombie’s tasteless trashy torture porn flick with the Halloween logo slapped on it to be entertained you freak.
69 Says:

Yeah sure. I’ve been here since early 2004 and not once do I remember seeing you around until you disrupt this thread in Rob Zombie’s defense.
The gig is up and you’ve been outed. Now run back to Rob Zombie’s myspace page to continue licking his balls you groupie.
LOL
69 Says:
I see you are all butt-hurtSorry to disapoint you but I’m a straight guy and my butt doesn’t hurt you weirdo.
69 Says:

You’ve ruined your own credibility by exposing yourself as the mindless Rob Zombie fanboy who’s review is as worthless as this crappy movie. 😉

ParticipantP.S. LOLing at your own posts is monumentally retarded…………
September 13, 2007 at 11:59 PM #19037etrigan69
ParticipantI’ve been here forever. This is at least the third incarnation of this board I can remember. Maybe the fourth then it died and everyone ventured over to the Bloody Disgusting boards but it wasn’t the same. I remember one year I even photoshopped some Halloween Pumpkin patterns, posted my collection of Exorcist stuff and used to debate “Little Pig Mother” about Jung.
Yeah, everyone is jumping to your defense…….
I could care less who liked it. That’s not the point.
The point is you were completely disingenuous reviewing a movie you didn’t even see. It was unfinished and not the version the Director wanted released. If you had paid to see it instead of illegally downloading it, I wouldn’t have had a problem with you. Could you point out those “subtle hints” in your original review that you downloaded the workprint cause I still don’t see them.
I didn’t post to debate you over silly B.S. anyway. I just wanted those who read your review that it was not the finished movie as your review insinuates.
