You left out one detail in the book that I found creepy, wherever Sharon went in the room, Regan followed with her flicking tongue.

I have gone back to read the book with a fine tooth comb. There are many things in the book that I care about a little more than when they were presented in the film that we all love. The section of the book that has brought to outmost chills is where Chris and Sharon are reminising about Burke Dennings death till the wee hours of the morning and it happens. You know what happens! The spider walk.I think the books version is much better than that of the movies. Don’t get me wrong the movie version is scary but the books just gave me the willies.I can imagine if Friedkin would have done that very version like the book.
    The books version
Gliding spiderlike, rapidly, close behind Sharon, her body arched backward in a bow with her head almost touching her feet, was Regan, her toungue flicking quickly in and out of her mouth while she hissed sibiliantly like a serpent.
“Sharon?”Chris said numbly, still staring at Regan.
Sharon stopped. So did Regan. Sharon turned and saw nothing. And then screamed as she felt Regan’s toungue snaking out at her ANCKLE….. Damm if that not scarier than the films version I don’t know what .
Love to hear what you guys think.

No, I did not leave that detail out it is in there. It is right after… The books version
right underneath that it starts out
Gliding spiderlike, rapidly, close behind Sharon, her body…. this is straight out from the book .
I take it by your response that is creepy to you too.

I think colombiancannon meant this part: “Wherever Sharon moved, Regan would follow.”
Of course it’s creepier in the novel because you can use your imagination, and in my opinion, there’s nothing creepier than that. 🙂

Thanks Sofia. I don’t have the novel to write it the way it was written.
