Bought this pic thinking it was the infamous 1978 video nasty which tells the story of a woman who is brutally raped (twice, in graphic, ugly detail) by a gang of Deliverance types. Said woman then goes on a killing spree, suducing each in order to perform her  vengeful bloodbaths. Roger Ebert memorably gave it ZERO stars to emphasize this was the worst movie he ever saw. Probably, it was. Did I enjoy it? – NO. But I 'experienced it' just as I had a very squirmy physical reaction to Wes Craven's “The Last House on the Left” or Tobe Hooper's “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.
“I Spit on Your Grave: Unrated” is a 2010 remake from the Anchor Bay production house. When it comes to horror, Anchor Bay knows it's shit. So much so that I was delighted to see Roger Ebert also gave this film ZERO stars. Â It's easy to see why. The cruelty and depravity is vividly & realistically portrayed. It's hard to watch. It's hard not to. And that's where this movie (like the original) succeeds. It pushes buttons not unlike “Death Wish” or “Class of 1984” and allows you to disreguard your personal morality in favour of emphasizing with the protagonist hellbent for revenge.
If you don't eject “I Spit on Your Grave: Unrated”, Â the shotgun anal rape/eat your castration finale will provide a suitably cathardic payoff for what you will endure.
