I am surprised that no one mentioned it because it is one of the most disturbing films of all time. I first saw it about 20 years ago and just saw it again last week after a couple of years and I must say it is still very depressing and quite difficult to watch. There is a certain atmosphere in this film that just unsettles the viewer and there is no music or fancy editing in this 1978 classic. It is so raw, ugly and brutal. This film is truly hated by many but I consider it to be perfect for what it is.

BTW Does anyone know what happened to the absolutely gorgeous Camille Keaton? Now she gave Linda Blair a good run for her money in terms of 70’s hotness.

Agreed. At the time, Ebert really was vocal against the slasher genre and decried “ISOYG” as the lowest of the low and yet is an undeniably powerful film. Not unlike the viewing experience watching “Last House on the Left” and to a lesser extent the “Halloween” remake. As dispicable as the subject matter may be, “ISOYG” is well worth a look.
