ParticipantSo, does anybody know or can guess what the rest of the body of Captain Howdy looks like?
My guess is, a furry, wolfman-type exterior with claws and looking very much like the wolf-Dracula in Bram Stoker’s Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola; gee, come to think it, BSD is just LITTERED with Exorcist visual quotations and nods of tribute — such as: Sick Lucy in chair looking like Regan; the single-toned orange-yellow sun; the sideways close-up of Dracula shifting into Wolf-mode echoing the fleeting sideways POV shift of Captain Howdy during the exorcism; and others…
Why any of this matters, I don’t know. Yes, I’m looking too deeply into this. And if this doesn’t prove it, I don’t know what does. ๐

Ps.I wish McFarlane Toys would create a Captain Howdy figure. Nifty it would be.

ParticipantBy the way, guys, I’m working on a full-body drawing of Paz (“Captain Howdy”) himself. I hope it lives up to my high expectations. ๐
Look for it… in time. SOON! ๐

ParticipantMy guess would be (even though it won’t help ya) is that Captain Howdy doesn’t have a true form.

ParticipantYeah, as a demon I would also guess that Pazuzu does not have a native form or state. Presumably he is a nonmaterial spirit being and only takes on form in order to manifest on “this plane”, and/or distorts the human forms of those he possesses (the malevolently-changed facial expressions of Regan, Kokumo, the lady doctor in The Beginning, Che-Che, etc.) Hence, he can manifest as winged Pazuzu or as white-faced Howdy, or in any other form that would suit his purposes. But it will be nice to see MIKE’s full-body drawing of Pazuzu to see how he interprets it.

ParticipantI imagine any demon (fallen angel) or the Devil Himself to be “in the image of God”, just as Man (humanity) was created to be. The “image of God” line can be interpreted different ways, but I feel this is the most likely scenario. I do feel also, however, such unholy creatures (they were created), like their holy counterparts, angels, are more or less immortal and can manifest themselves in different ways. Demons can appear on this “plane” thanks to the possession of human beings’ bodies, or as a ghostly apparition or spirit if it chose. Same for angels, though Biblically it’s recorded in the Gospels that they were just perceived as human beings; they were in disguise — it was an illusion, not an actual possession; posessions are unholy acts, causing harm to humanity out of hatred of God. I wish I could specify a verse(s), but I’m very rusty on the Bible. ๐
Anyway, one last thought: Pazuzu, in my opinion wouldn’t have a humanoid head and facial features if he didn’t also have a humanoid body (unpictured in the films). To think of him as a floating head seems incomplete in theory. ๐ I think Paz can take on other forms, but the “face” we’re all familiar with I believe is in fact the primary, original demonic essence/manifestation. The (fallen) angel.
Thanks for listening to my opinionating, and look out for that pic very, very soon. ๐

ParticipantNice interpretation, MIKE, he looks powerful yet somehow restrained, like a demon who has supernatural potency but is still under divine interdict…
