Looking forward to being honored at the Seattle Film Festival on June 9. They'll be screening Killer Joe, Exorcist & French Connection.
the print for the SIFF screening of the Exorcist is SPECTACULAR. took me six months to make…
The new Exorcist print looks exactly like what it did through the viewfinder when I shot the movie.
i saw new things about the film that I had either forgotten or not noticed before
The digital print for Seattle is actually being used as the master for next years 40th Annv Blu-ray. It's incredible.
this is not hyperbole. When you look through a finder, The color is perfect, there is no Dirt and no scratches, no flaws

KeymasterThis excites the hell out of me.
I sincerely hope there are some new features put together, but I fear it may be 'more of the same' but with what sounds like a fantastic new print.

ParticipantI really hope he isn’t blowing smoke. I absolutely loved the bluray release but really felt there could have been more new special features i.e. full cast commentary and possible a more in depth documentary. Of course I would absolutely love to see all the Captain Howdy footage which they continue to tease us with!!

ParticipantI think it's about time for all the missing scenes to be put back together. I'm sure none of us really care if they have sound or not, it'd just be nice to see them.
Maybe some of us could get tweeting to Friedkin with suggestions? Or create a thread on here with ideas, and send the link. He appears to read all of the tweets sent to him.

KeymasterI'll get in touch with some of my WB contacts from the 2010 blu-ray and see if I can get an official word of some kind.

ParticipantIf Friedkin can put in the scene with Karras and Father Lucas, then I'll really be impressed!

ParticipantI never thought that I would say this, but I am so over WB beating this cash cow to death.
For those of us who invested money in the 2010 blu-ray that included the extra “documentaries” and Roizman's BTS material, THAT blu-ray should have represented the best that WB had to offer for a much anticipated premiere blu-ray of The Exorcist.
If my assumptions are correct, considering the three year difference between these release dates, it would appear that WB launched a covert and well-orchestrated three-year plan IF they held back additional material purposefully. That is where the rubber meets the road and I'll just watch any “extras” on YouTube.
Friedkin is a great director. Friedkin is also a great pitch man. It doesn't matter to me if, “The new Exorcist print looks exactly like what it did through the viewfinder when I shot the movie.” Friedkin's forgetting that he had film in the camera that couldn't capture exactly what he saw at that time (and quite frankly that IS hyperbole, Mr. Friedkin).
I'll pass and wait for the 50th Anniversary Edition that will be morphed into IMAX 3D and then 3D blu-ray.
