ParticipantIt was meant to be a funny.

Participantlol
I seriously don’t think anything can be removed to make the film any better, just more confusing.

ParticipantJust a joke idea. Heretic might be less confusing if somebody added-in a laugh track – to provide audience guidance as to when to laugh loudest.

ParticipantThat “joke” means no disrespect to Fr Lamont: if he can spice up and refine Heretic, more power to him.

ParticipantLet’s face it: Linda Blair’s looks were the only thing that saved that film.

ParticipantI know it was a joke Ryan, but half of the threads I created here seem to stray far away from topic. I just wanted to stop it and get back on subject. Thanks and no hard feelings.

ParticipantFirst, I’d get rid of that terrible score. Maybe use existing pieces like Friedkin did in the original.
Second, get someone that actually sounds like the Pazuzu voice.
Third, I would completely remove the entire ending.
Other than that, for me anyway, the rest of the film is watchable.
I do really like the african boy’s exorcism scenes… powerful. The scenes are more accurate with the original than the two prequels. You know the whole “almost killed him/lasted a month” sort of thing.July 22, 2007 at 11:59 PM #18471Father Lamont
ParticipantIt didn’t seem like a month but climbing up that cliff sure as hell might have killed you.
July 22, 2007 at 11:59 PM #18472magus
ParticipantI think that the time span was more of an implied thing and the cliff scene was just one of the highlights of the exorcisim.

ParticipantFunny, most people think that it’s the best part of the movie. See IMdB message boards.

ParticipantOkay, but which then occurred first: The Heretic’s Merrin scenes or the prequel (whichever)?
Thanks, ’cause I’m clueless! 😛
EDIT: Okay, I think I must have missed it, so… NEW QUESTION: What tells you the prequel(s) take place beforehand?
Curious and/or plain dumb, 😛

ParticipantHow long is Merrin actually in the film, YOUNG MERRIN? The Georgetown scenes are weaksauce in comparison; who knew one part of this film could be worse or better than another part…? 😐
Short enough to digitize and make ready for dowload/viewing by those of us who traded in their HERETIC DVDs? 😛

ParticipantMerrin is in the film for maybe ten minutes. This includes the voice diolouge he does during the third synchronizer bit.
