And JAnee! Shirley played in Australia too and Europe, except Portugal. Well, I wasn’t alive at that time. ;))

Uhm..whatever they said! Make it a definitive collector’s item – bootleggers and pirates won’t get their hands on the artwork, the limited box case with both a written introduction in the fabulous booklet and a brand new DVD-introduction! Perhaps a new retrospective, like “Wes Craven on The Omen”?
Restoration of the original film and side-by-side comparisons?

I could go on all week..:P

Yes, also there is rumoured to be a scene on the Hitchcock steps where Damien Karras suffers a crisis of faith – which was deleted. Don’t know if that’s true, but what a hugely important scene for us to enjoy…

Cap’n, I’ve run across it a couple of times on the Net but never bookmarked it. If I run into it again, I’ll send it to the Forums.

Wow, I thought I got bad information! I’ve heard of it too!!! At Horrorwood, “The Devil and Father Karras”. No link ’cause every time I go there my browser closes… maybe it’s haunted. It’s still here though.

Never heard of such a scene, granville. Where dd you read about this?

A new booklet would be fantastic, and definitely including texts from Mark Kermode.

I am under the impression they are aware of it and have read, though they are yet to reply.

I’d also love to see the Ouija Board screen test. Only a few seconds were shown on Fear of God.

I think this often ill-treated series of films deserves a comprehensive anthology edition a la The Matrix.

I’m all for a definitive release of the original film including all versions, like Blade Runner is getting later in the year.

But some enthusiast needs to get archival on this series’ ass and sort out the mess of different sequels, different edits, different studios and different directors before the film stock rots in its cans!

An open letter to Warner Brothers Home Entertainment

ATTN: President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group

RE: A future release of The Exorcist

It is with high hopes and great anticipation that I optimistically type this letter to you both, Mr Tsujihara & Mr. Sanders, on behalf of Exorcist fans around the globe.

We anticipate a re-releases of The Exorcist in the near future, especially with the rollout of new DVD formats sweeping home entertainment. This has prompted us to attempt to reach.

We hope Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will consider releasing a definitive edition of the film we admire and consider one of the greatest of all time – The Exorcist.

As you might expect, fans of The Exorcist have very specific ideas about what kind of bonus features they would like to see on any potential box sets that could be released.

We are hoping, though this letter, your department will take the opportunity to liaise with this fan-based community at The Exorcist Fansite to help determine exactly what could be achieved, or what might be possible.

We are not looking for royalties, credit or glory with this request. We simply want to see a special edition of The Exorcist so full-to-the-brim with special features that it could be compared to other films which have their share of releases; box sets and definitive editions.

Please do take the time to reply. Thousands of anxious Exorcist fans eagerly look forward to your response!

    Kind regards,

    The Fans,
