I think everyone had a hand in caring for Regan – Chris, Karl, Sharon. I got the idea that she was wearing special sickroom diapers that were designed to handle, as much as possible, the diarrhetic episodes.
I don’t have a problem with Karl doing this, since he saw Regan very much as a surrogate daughter – one, unlike his real daughter, he could actually care for.

Good point, granville. Yes, I always figured on it being a sort of diaper. That would account for hearing the noise so easily. And, if I remember correctly, Sharon once went into the room to clean up after her.
