ParticipantClara Bellar – she seemed the more authentic Nazi concentration camp victim. Her complexion is better than Scorupco’s, who has an unfortunate wen on her cheek which must be a yard wide on the big screen. Also – and this is due to Dominion’s superior screenplay – she stays in character and is not put thru the goofy “possession” symptoms that plagued Scorupco. Only at the end was she possessed – but this was along with the rest of the people who were turning to violence and insanity in the minutes before Merrin exorcises Che Che.
Bellar’s character is more sympathetic and grounded than Scorupco’s.March 21, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16686Justin
ParticipantI agree with everything Granville said. I also think Clara was better – cuter – looking than Iza.. who looked too old in Exorcist: The Beginning. Though I do think Iza did a fantastic job in ETB. Her and Stellan are what make the film worth watching.

ParticipantI think Izabella did a pretty good job considering the Shit-I mean script she was given to work with.
As the Demon she Gave a great physical performance and great facial expresions.
I think Having her character being possessed wouldn’t have been so bad if it hadn’t copied the Linda Blair Makeup.
My big problem with that makeup was the cuts on her face, No reason is given for it. I would have showed her possessed and Digging her fingernails into her face and makeing those cuts.I prefer Clara, Her Performance really isn’t that bad, The character has been through alot, and I wouldn’t expect her to act Like every other female lead in movies.
Also She’s not Really Glamorized or Exploited. I like the respect her Character is Given, it’s rare in todays movies.
I understand Her and Merrin Kissing in the Cave, The logic behind it was obvious, But I truely Love the fact that Merrin Kisses her on the cheak at the End,again thats rare in todays movies, and it would have ruind the movie if he had kissed her on the lips at the End,although I would have 🙂March 23, 2007 at 11:59 PM #16698Greg
ParticipantClara looks a lot more authentic for that time period and as Schrader I believe says in his commentary– she looked like she was from the 40’s. Izabella looks too much like a Bond girl (she was in Goldeneye) and the makeup her character uses is too modern looking.

ParticipantTowards the end of “Dominion”, a demonic looking Clara staggers about clutching a butcher knife as the sky vibrates with color. It approximates nicely the best work of Argento in “Suspiria” and for that alone, she gets my vote.

ParticipantWho do you think did a better job as the nurse in the prequel Exorcist films? Who was more attractive? Who was the most believable love interest for Father Merrin? And, who did you just like better?
Rachel or Sarah?
I vote: (Only From Seeing A Few Scenes In EX: TB and the entire DOMINION)
Acting: Izabella
Attractive: Izabella
Love Interest: Clara
Like Better: Clara -
