ParticipantAll sounds good, my friend. I anxiously look forward to seeing the finished product. Gosh am I.
OH! OH! Hey, I just thought of something! You know how some have complained about how brief the exorcism is? Well, what if, through clever editing you expand the length of the exorcism to some extent? Slow motion here and there, MAYBE, and really whatever else you want to do; I guess the sky’s the limit. This would be very risky, but perhaps it’s still worth considering. I mean, one might figure, such a brief spiritual battle could only happen if the exorcist was old and seasoned, as Merrin is in the 1973 film — that is, he’d QUICKLY take out the trash. This younger, in-crisis Merrin, he really lucks out. I dunno. Thoughts?
Anyway, yes, I’m a geek for this film series (the good ones I adore, the bad ones don’t exist to me), and I just naturally think this is an exciting and intellectually rewarding and creative endeavor. Makes me want to get a recording program — Just ask Justy; been hounding him to deliver even just clips of the deleted scenes of this film inserted back in.
Justy, looks like you’re probably off the hook. 😛

ParticipantThe “Jomo-kills-the-school-kids” scene!
Hatty, a special request: Can you digitally add the dying Jomo into the footage where he seems to gone missing (for a few seconds) before returning. It literally looks like he vanishes — he’s just gone at one point — then he’s back.
Justy, please show us the evidence. 🙂 One of the few occasions in the film where such a significant edit would certainly ADD to the film.
Thanks, Hat.

Participant😛 I’m too busy to put a pic together but if you watch it slow when he starts talking, he disappears – and I’m sure it was done on purpose because in a Proxima demo clip it shows a before and after of they edited that part.. I have no idea why.

ParticipantNo worries, Justy. But thanks for the more accurate and concise description. 🙂

ParticipantGUYS, I GOT IT!!!! The title for this fan edit. I think it’s a perfect compliment to “THE EXORCIST” — the film this one prequels — and it doesn’t “spoil” the fact that Merrin becomes an exorcist.
NOT Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist.
NOT Dominion
And NOT Exorcist: Dominion
HERE’S MY IDEA: The Dominion
THE DOMINION; Merrin’s journey to become THE EXORCIST. The Dominion —> The Exorcist. One is about the journey, Satan’s defeat. The next is about the showdown with the demon, the vengeance of Pazuzu, Merrin’s last stand. The Dominion. The Exorcist. The Dominion. The Exorcist.
The Dominion.
I think it’s got an appropriate ring to it. And it’s not a drastic change from what we’re used to. Thoughts?

ParticipantHy I just got back fro st. Louis, im very tired, but I will do my best to get the 2 tests posted sometime tonight, and remember there just test, not a done deal, The New ideas about the title are interesting, but ultimately Im just the one trying to re-edit the movie, The opening titles is probablly the last thing I’ll do, But I suggest you guys have some sort of vote about the title, Justin please see what kind off footage you can dig up for the bonus disc, Any possible interviews with schrader, or behind the scenes, But we dont anything For ETB except the original teaser for schrader’s version and any other advertisment of it.

ParticipantHi hatter76, I wish you all the best with you fan edit. I’ve delved into that area a couple of times myself so I know what you’re going through.
The only scenes I can think of editing are the 1st hyena scene, the CGI snake & maybe a bit of slow mo at the end of the exorcism where Cheche is recoiling from the holywater. They’re the majour ones of the top of my head, I’m sure theres a few smaller edits that can be made.

ParticipantThat looks pretty cool.

ParticipantHi hatter76, I think the best thing to do where possible is just delete the poor CGI scenes & try & replace them with something else. That light of god clip was very good.

Participant“The Dominion” should be a/the title. 🙂
As for the lead-in repeat scene from the original film, it’s a neat concept, but should stay as a promotional piece in the trailers. The film’s epilogue — as such a scene would become if included — is technically already “the sequel”, the 1973 film. So, to watch Dominion, then the 1973 film (or in reverse), would watching the same scene twice in a row really benefit the viewer or the film(s) in general? That’s why a trailer promoting the prequel, including that scene, would be best — because to include it in this film is little more than a “trailer” for the “sequel” — the 1973 film.
Just my two cents.
