Hi! I am taking a digital photo for an online passport and have already been rejected a couple of times. The system says that the photo is too big or the head is positioned incorrectly. I definitely took a square photo of 600 × 600 px, but apparently something is wrong with the background or the size of the head. What are the most common mistakes and how can I fix them at home so that the photo is accepted immediately?

Hi! Yes, such mistakes are common. I used https://digital-passport-photo.com and they explain in detail what is a digital passport photo and what State Department requirements need to be met. Common mistakes: file > 240 KB (solved by compression), background with shadows (further from the wall or raise the light), head less than 50% of the frame (re-cut closer). I took several photos, chose the best one, checked the file size and the head, cropped it to a 600 × 600 square and uploaded – passed immediately. Advice: strictly follow the site’s instructions and check the photo before uploading, then the probability of rejection is almost zero.

I think the main thing is to check all the parameters: size, white background, head position. Often people forget about the eyes at the right height and use filters, so the photo is rejected. If you follow everything, the photo goes through easily.
