    is Hershal Green from The Walking Dead. Watching the series, I can't recognize the actor as the same character.

    The actor you're referring to is the great Scott Wilson, who is also completely amazing in “The Ninth Configuration”. One of my top 5 favorite movies ever, and IMHO Blatty's most underrated film. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a huge favor and track it down.
