It's that time of the year again, I have to read some book for english and write an essay about it. I have a question for all of you that will help me extermly: What is a key trait of Father Merrian and Father Karras? I can't think of a key trait. Any suggestions?

    Hi Epic,

Specifically, what did your teacher want you to look for in the key traits of the priests? Are you being asked what is the only key trait or several key traits of each character? For instance, Father Merrin's key traits could be focused, scholarly, unafraid, or simply the saviour.

Just one key trait, that's why it's kind of hard. For Regan I chose 'innocent' because she was a very innocent sweet child that did no wrong.

Are you going to do a school project on The Exorcist book again? 😀 Can you show me what you’ve got so far?

Have you read Audrey Rose novel? It’s my other favorite book. 🙂

I finished on Monday, I'll e-mail it to you. 🙂 I believe if a book is a good enough book you can read it over and over and catch something new every time. 🙂

No I have not, I should though. 🙂

    Epic,

What was your final outcome for key traits for Father Merrin and Damien Karras?

For Fther M I did unafriad because of this quote: According to the narrator, “A muffled pounding jolted the room. Then another. Then steadily, shuddering through walls, through the floor, through the ceiling, splintering, throbbing at a ponderous rate” (362). And backed it up with: Although there are many loud noises that are unexplained and the flickering lights and all the threats made by the demon Father Merrin does not react to them and continues with the exorcism.

For Father K I did giving because of this quote: Damien shouts, “Come on, loser! Try me! Leave the girl and take me” (389). And backed it up with: Father Karras is giving because he makes a lot of sacrifices throughout the book.

    Epic,

I like your thinking. Did your teacher? How did you grade?
