ParticipantI found a listing on Fandango for The Exorcist being reissued for one night only on 9/30. It’s listed as the directors cut…does anyone know if this is the same cut as the 2000 release or a new edit? Its playing here in CT in Plainvelle Loews theater but there are cities listed across the country

ParticipantHmm well I haven’t heard anything about it, but it’s probably safe to assume it will be the new transfer.
It would be great if this was a worldwide thing… or at least in Australia too 😛

ParticipantThis is for “The Exorcist Director’s Cut Event” showing across the U.S. at select NCM theaters. Notice the use of the word “Event.” If it’s like most of the garnered movie events here in the U.S., we can probably surmise we’ll see lots of fans dressed up as their favorite characters from The Exorcist. The running time is 2 hours, 45 minutes which is accounted for by this statement from NCM Fathom:
“NCM Fathom is partnering with Warner Brothers Home Entertainment to bring back the most successful horror film of all time for a special one night event – The Exorcist featuring the Director’s Cut version. For the first time in ten years The Exorcist Director’s Cut will be in theatres along with never before seen behind the scenes footage and interviews with William Friedkin and members of the original cast.”
Who? NCM Fathom? Well, directly it means: “National CineMedia (NCM) LLC operates the largest digital in-theatre network in North America through a venture of AMC Entertainment, Inc., Cinemark USA, Inc. (NYSE: CNK) and Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE: RGC), the three largest theatre operators in the U.S., along with additional Affiliate theatres. Our national theatre network includes approximately 17,100 screens in approximately 1,400 theatres in 47 states, reaching approximately 680 million moviegoers annually.”
Good, that means we’ll have the lastest digital equipment (Sony’s 4K) that offers the best quality digital video to date in all the NCM theaters (not to mention the newest in audio technology).
I hope this becomes another tradition like the The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the fans of The Exorcist. I’m in … I have to find my cassock, purple stole, and holy water bottle. 🙂 Grab your tickets now because most theaters are selling out early.

ParticipantFathom Events screenings are known mainly for concerts, Anime, Metropolitan Opera, or Ultimate Fighting. So this is a great surprise.
movietickets.com came through for me in purchasing my ticket in advance. I’ll give you guys the lowdown on the “Event” in my neck of the woods after 9/30/10.

Participantepic,
Search your local area for an AMC, Cinemark, or Regal cinema online by googling each one. You can buy tickets online or call the box office.

ParticipantAlso make sure you check both fandango.com and movietickets.com for showings in your area. The Fathom website only lists the Manchester Ct showing in my area which will be onsale using movietickets.com (and not onsale yet)however it is also playing in anothe theater in Plainville, on sale through Fandango and those tickets are already available.

Wish I could be there…August 21, 2010 at 3:09 AM #22975fatherbowdern
ParticipantLuckily, my theater is only 10 minutes away. I just purchased my tickets online at Cinemark with the help of an employee there.
FYI from John at Cinemark: Recommended arrival time – no later than 7:00PM. Starting time 7:30PM; ending time 10:00PM. Sony 4K HD Projector in their location; some NCG Fathoms will have a streaming multi-cast using HD projectors (depending on their location). Ticket price $12.50 each in my area (this is great because it’s shown in this Cinemark’s only NCM Fathom Sony 4K HD theater).
What an excellent day for an exorcism on September 30, 2010!

PS: Yes! I’m taking a camera just in case (as long as I’m not barred from doing so!).

LOL Cap … look at my post above on August 20th. 😉
Cap, you’re always invited to my home in the States for the three D’s (dinner, drinks, and discussion) on the best horror movie ever!

ParticipantOh, friends have said commercials are running on television about this event, but I haven’t seen one yet because I rarely watch the TV. If I have it playing in the background, I often hear The Last Exorcism commercials after 9:00PM. Pretty heavy on the advertising for that one.

KeymasterApologies, Father. I glanced over your link-post somehow! Thank God (or Pazuzu?) we have great fans following this film so closely!
