ParticipantDoes a documentary like video (or even pics) exist about the construction of the left wing of the house ?
I was so obsessed with this at a certain time. lol
I wish they had kept the old look of the house… That would have been so cool.

ParticipantNot obsessed enough to buy it, apparently!
November 16, 2008 at 11:59 PM #21385Witch of Endor
ParticipantI mean you didn’t attempt to buy the 3600 Prospect Street house did you? I am sure there are fans out there that would put in a bid.

ParticipantYou know all the things published, I can’t recall a picture of the crew building the fake facade. I only heard about it and the fact WB paid for the nice wrought-iron fence surrounding the home and the owner wanted it torn down and replaced with her old white-picket fence. DUH! She must have been nuts.

ParticipantTo Witch of Endor :
By saying that I was obsessed I meant that I was attracted by the look of the house not by buying it ! lolThanks for the info fatherbowdern 😉
I didn’t know that the owner wanted the wrought-iron fence to be destroyed after the filming. This fence really matched the facade. As you said, the owner must have been completely nuts by requesting this… O__o !!

ParticipantIf the owner had half a clue he/she could have made quite a nice dime out of “crazy” Exorcist fans wanting to visit.
What an idiot.

Participantiamnoone, probably against local zoning law to erect a “place of amusement” in the area. I’ve heard of people being prosecuted for things like this. Its no joke.

ParticipantAnanta79, yes, that was a particular peculiar thing to do because the fence that WB built on the 3600 Prospect lot was quite expensive considering it was made of wrought-iron, brick columns, and, of course, that wonderful “Exorcist” light post.
WB spiffied the house up to create the illusion of an expensive house that you would expect a celebrity like Chris McNeil would occupy. Today, it looks shitty … IMHO.
Here’s the picture comparison again (click to enlarge):

Participantit also looks like wb built a false rooftop as well as the side building, it looks so boring with the flatroof.

ParticipantDemondan: I wondered the same thing myself. I thought it was just that the pictures were taken from different angles. Bowdern: We really need to have the two comparison photos to be from the same angle to make it meaningful.
