ParticipantDakota Fanning would be the worst possible choice. I’d rather have Uwe Boll direct a remake than her play any part in the film.
I really can’t name anyone I’d want for a remake, because I’d want mostly unknowns. Maybe Stellan Skarsgard as Merrin, though I doubt he’d ever want to do another Exorcist film. Max could always reprise his role, but he’d probably feel the same as Stellan.

KeymasterTwo names I don’t want anywhere near the remake include DEKOTA FANNING and WETA WORKSHOP.
If names like this are announced early after the remake is announced, it will be a sure sign it’s heading down the wrong path. In my humble opinion, of course. I’d dearly loved to be proven absolutely wrong!

ParticipantI feel Like Fanning is t o mucfh of an obvious choice for anyone to realy set down and take her seriously in the role.
WETA does great Work, But I wouldn’t recomend them, The Hyenas in ETB look like they were made by WETA.I admit that I would Like to See Skarsgard again, If Max did it at least he’s old enough now that he dosn’t need the old age makeup.
infact I remember about a decade ago when I herd talk of a Prequel for the first time.
I invisioned the movie opening in 1973, Merrin has just sent Karras out of Reagan’s bedroom, He’s on his knees praying and places his hand on Reagan’s.
the Close up of Merrins face actually being a New Shot of Max, We Move into the darkness of his right Eye, we go Back in time for the rest of the Movie until the end, We come back out of Merrin’s Left eye, he is lying on the floor dying, and he’s heart takes it’s last few beats.December 23, 2007 at 11:59 PM #19797Justin
ParticipantWETA do amazing work, far better than anything in ETB. But, I don’t see how they are needed for The Exorcist.
I’d get Dick Smith back for any make-up effects.

ParticipantSomething tells me that certain posters are confusing WETA Digital and WETA Workshop. The latter does amazing make-up and prosthetic work.
And at any rate, anyone thinking WETA sucks needs to re-evaluate. Their work should not be dmned because you dislike the films they’ve been associated with.

ParticipantThey should cast relative unknowns in order to add to the film’s realism.

ParticipantNow WETA Workshop is fantastic, I agree, I have know doubt they would do a Phenominal Job With the Exorcist, But I don’t expect to see them Do An Exorcist Film.
It would Be Nice For Dick Smith to Work His Magic for a New generation.
But I don’t expect Him to, Perhaps be a consultant though. But Ultimately Any type of Visual FX must be set asside for the moment.
If this Movie had to be Done, Then it has to have a Damn good Script, And a Director Who will do it Justice.December 26, 2007 at 11:59 PM #19806Jason Stringer
KeymasterWow, I really didn’t realize WETA Workshop and WETA Digital were two different things (duh!) thanks for pointing that out Erik!
I’d still hope a good director and solid script were well in place before a special effects group (digital or no) was decided.
And I stand firm on my veto of all things Dekota Fanning! Hopefully the idea of a remake is put off long enough so that she becomes too old for the role. š

ParticipantI think Friedkin and Sydow should come back to the Exorcist remake. Dakota Fanning might work as Regan, but I donĀ“t know…

ParticipantThe only ābig nameā that would be intresting but would NEVER happen would be Miley Cyrus
Not Hannah Montana, they need to use a fairly shy introverted girl.

ParticipantI didn’t want a remake for a long time. Now I’m beginning to want them to create a new one. Nothing will take away from the original….even if the new one sucked. I agree with most people that it should not a “top name actress”. Somebody with some experience but not a major star. The only “big name” that would be intresting but would NEVER happen would be Miley Cyrus. Disney might frown about her masturbating with a knife!!! lol Every single one of us would see the new movie in a second…..even if you were against a remake.
