I recieved some Hammer films for Christmas. I’ve seen Hound, Mummy and Dracula has risen form the grave. I’ll watch the others soon. Love Chris Lee!

Warner Brothers released CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, DRACULA and THE MUMMY on DVD in the U.S.; HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES was an MGM video release.

It’s like a jig saw puzzle putting together the “Drac”, “Frank” & disjointed “Mummys” but here goes…

Anybody else just adore the Hammer movies? Now I have got a question once there were two box sets with Hammer movies in my country (Belgium), but they didn’t include the movies that started the success (Dracula, The Mummy, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Curse of Frankenstein). So are they already released in other countries? And who ownes the copyright of these films?

All cheap as chips on Amazon.co.uk. HMV.co.uk do a fine Hammer box set for £40 which has 21 films in it. It’s a good starting point. They do plenty of other Hammer films at around £5 each. We’ve never had definitive releases in the UK which is a shame but with a bit of hunting around most of the catalogue is available.

Collecting these wonderful Hammer horrors is a real PAIN! Warner issued a good bare bones collection of “Horror of Dracula”, “Dracula Has Risen From the Grave”, “Taste the Blood of Dracula” & the under-rated “Dracula Ad 72”. The set is called “4 Favorite Warner Draculas” & sells for about $20 on ebay. Several companies issue “The Satanic Rites of Dracula” & “The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires” (although Anchor Bay has the latter on a nice double Feature with “Frankenstein Created Woman”) I’ve never seen a copy of “Dracula Prince of Darkness” on dvd but know they sell for many, many dollars on ebay under the Anchor imprint. AB also has “Scars of Dracula” & “Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb” I saw a copy of the Lee “Mummy” for $7 on ebay & ordered “The Hammer Franchise Collection” which contains “The Evil of Frankenstein” & “The Brides of Dracula”. Paramount has “Frankenstein & the Monster From Hell”. It’s a real dogs’ dinner of titles & publishers although these are some of my favorites.
