I would have like to of seen more of burke speaking though regan in the film like in the book, I think the only bit that he does is after the cross bit ( you know what see did….) I like it in the book when he speaks through regan and says ” it bloody stinks in here can somebody open the window.. oh oh no fucking no don’t last time that happened someone bloody died here!! ) I love that bit in the book, still the best film ever!!
I’ve always had the opinion that while there are many great things about Blatty’s book that we now have an interest in seeing as footage, there is no doubt Friedkin’s original cut of the film did what it needed to do in terms of deleting the stuff not needed for screen and keeping the film very on-track.
I would like to see more of Karras investingating the possession, which also goes into much more detail in the book.
