ParticipantVery sad indeed, yet it is very comforting to know that he had passed peacefully. My prayers go to him and his family of course.

KeymasterBrought a tear to my eye also. Such a sad thing to happen to a loving family. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Blatty, and I’m glad the words from users on this site gave some comfort.

ParticipantYes, Mr. Blatty and family. Thank you for sharing, and letting us be of some comfort to you.
Wow. The video hit a nerve with me, as well; it moved me, caused me to reevaluate areas of my life, which has been a rollercoaster with more downs than than ups; the lowest points being most recently, including a family tragedy of my own; grandfather passed away in late November.
To make a long story short, I’ve chosen to let God return to the center, at the forefront of my thoughts, and therefore, my actions.
Your son Peter’s example as echoed through the quotes of friends and family present in this video rung authenically like Christ; Christian. Loving. The kind of man with whom God is well pleased. The more such examples I hear about or know personally, the better. I suppose such quality examples aren’t abundant in my life, or I’m just not looking hard enough.
Whatever the case, those of our faith are at our best when we have examples such as Peter. Your sharing this video has given me the motivation to be on the lookout for other such people in and out of my life. Without such examples, mirrors of Christ, to inspire and encourage us in our daily Christian walk, life can seem impossible.
My heart goes out to you and your dealing with your loss, but your sharing this has been a real blessing. I hope it might help others here as well.
Thank you again and God bless.
Mike

ParticipantFriends,
All beautiful and touching responses that I am certain Mr. Blatty will read and appreciate. As you all know, I will be dedicating the book to both Mr. Blatty and to the memory of his son and am pleased to hear others are continuing to pray for the family…
🙂Cheers & God Bless

ParticipantFriends,
(Captain Howdy… not sure if you want to post this elsewhere)
Mr. Blatty contacted me today and wanted me to pass on the following message:
“I am writing to ask that you kindly transmit to the site the thanks of all my family for
the kind expressions of condolence posted there. Peter’s mother, his brother Paul and I were deeply touched. For those who had asked about it, Peter was taken by an extraordinarily rare event known as myocarditis, whereby a virus triggers the immune system to attack the muscles of the heart. The good news is that Peter passed in his sleep and was in what we Catholics call a “state of grace.” His last text message to a friend, in fact, were the words “I’m good with God!” For all who might wish to learn more about my amazing son, the mem.com website now contains a “movie” as well as a new bio of Peter. Go to the site, if you wish, type in the name BLATTY, read the bio and click on MOVIE. Thank you all again for your kind thoughts. They gave some comfort.”What a wonderful human being…
🙂Cheers & God Bless
