ParticipantThat article about Linda’s dog was sad :((
Sofia
ParticipantBlizzi, do you also buy rare behind the scenes pictures off Ebay? If you have some, could you post it?

ParticipantCap…

Participant“I dislike even the Blatty audio version — it’s incomplete, no matter what the box reads; Blatty, God bless him, omits whole sentences and embellishes others”
How strange. In my version he only skipped a few obscenity lines, but that was all.
Sofia
ParticipantWOW!! Lucky you!
Postman hasn’t come yet :((((Sofia
ParticipantThose are great. 🙂
Sofia
ParticipantJohn Calley was right and correct in removing the scene
Ah, but that’s your opinion. I’m entitled to mine, and to me he wasn’t right. I love that passage in the novel.
I just want to see the footage so badly!
What kind of updates were you referring to, Cap?
Sofia
ParticipantSure Cap.
Those vidclips were shown on Linda’s A&E Biography and her E! True Hollywood Story.

Participantlol yeah. I practically have the entire book memorized (except Karras and Kindermans’s chapters) because it’s my favorite novel.
And doesn’t Karras die around Mother’s Day..
Oh yeah. Blatty used the calendar of 1966, so he died on Mother’s Day (May 15). I wonder why he didn’t use the calendar of 1969 as the novel is set in that year. It was mentioned that Karl was hired by Chris in 1963 and had been with her for almost 6 years–therefore 1969 lol.
Sofia
Participant“There are no more cut scenes”
But the stills I posted above prove those scenes were filmed, and it’s in the novel. The ‘funny noises’ sequence was on Blatty’s first draft screenplay too.
The original scene before Ellen investigates the attic was cut because producer John Calley felt the sequence was repetitive and unneeded. Arrgg!![upset] What a silly man lol.

Participant“from Shirley and Sachi to the film director who became Burke Dennings..”
And Swiss Willie and Karl were based on the French couple who worked for Shirley lol. She mentioned it in her book too.
Sofia
ParticipantIt’s Shirley’s book ‘Dance While You can’. Blatty mentions more about it in his book, ‘Exorcist: From Novel to Film’
In that book, he wrote that the novel still haunts Sachi, for various columnists, hearing that Shirley was the model for Chris, have published that Sachi was “ill” at the time, and that the novel is her story.
He writes more about the rumors of whether or not Sachi was the girl in the original cover for The Exorcist novel. The blurred photo representing Regan.
Shirley was always convinced that Blatty broke into her house and took a picture of Sachi for the cover without her permission, but he denies it. 😉
Sofia
ParticipantI hope so! I can’t wait!
I’ll probably get mine on Monday too.Sofia
ParticipantMaybe Justy can upload them on youtube. I’ll send him the vidclips through msn.
Btw, how have you been, Ghetto? It’s been so long! (I’m Sofia)
Sofia
ParticipantAnd Shirley’s friend, the British director J. Lee Thompson, was the model for Burke Dennings, who had a habit of shredding his scripts and eating them (like Thompson had, according to Shirley)
I also read on Shirley’s book that she and Blatty used to have séances with the kids in the neighborhood at her big house in Encino, which was where he told her the idea for The Exorcist was born.
