ParticipantI totally agree with MIKE! Blatty’s perspective of what happened to KArras in Legion completely differs from The Exorcist novel/movie. That’s why I don’t care for any of the sequels. I hate Heretic! Regan was never supposed to be a healer. In Blatty’s words she was an ordinary little girl. Thank God, Heretic wasn’t Mr.Blatty’s creation. 😉
Anyway, I love Blatty! 😀 He looks like a Papa Bear. He said in “The Exorcist:From Novel to Film”, that his daughter called him that ha-ha.Sofia
ParticipantHey, what’s your real name, granville1? I already know Blizzi is Jane. It’s so weird people calling me lunuso! lol!
Sofia
ParticipantI’m Sofia and live in Portugal. 🙁
Wow, you have Shirley’s ex-husband’s name, Steve. 😉 Btw, I’ve been extending portions of The Exorcist novel but need help. I’ve asked writers to help me improvise it, but they’re always too busy.
Could I write some passages on Fan Fiction for you to improvise it? I understand if you’re busy, of course.Sofia
ParticipantAww thanks again, guys. 🙂
So, when will caps start the project?Sofia
ParticipantOh and Blizzi, I meant if you could help me too, with the writing.
lunuso was actually my father’s email account. Lu is short for luis (his name) , nu for Nuno (my brother) and so, for Sofia. 😉Sofia
ParticipantAww, I don’t know how to thank you! Thanks so much! 😀
I’m going to type a passage on Fan Fiction right now.Sofia
ParticipantThanks Jane :), but what I’ve written was an alternate ending to the “tuck into bed” passage. In the novel, after they say their good nights, Chris goes to the study to read her script. That’s why I don’t want to add a noise coming from the attic. 😉 And in the first pages, Blatty had already mentioned that Regan was squeamish and terrified of rats, so writing it again would be repetitive.
Also, I’m trying to extend Chapter 3. I’d like to see Regan’s first behavioral changes in dialogues and narrative, instead of reading it in one word sentences. Sorry if I’m not making sense lol. But it would be so great if you could extend it with me. 🙂
Thanks again!
Sofia
ParticipantI don’t know if justy has received my package yet. 🙁

ParticipantBlatty on The Exorcist: From Novel to Film (1974):
“…gone from the movie is the demon’s crucial line to Merrin: “This time you’re going to lose.” You will recall that in the first-draft script, the line was delivered by the demon off scene. In the final draft, it was the first line uttered by the demon as Merrin entered the room for the exorcism. This, plus other hints, created an aura of vendetta, further indicated that Regan’s possession is a setup; that the target all along is Merrin – at least, as the demon has construed it. Though another way of construing it – and my own – would be that Karras was the target and that the demon himself was being used as the crucible of Karras’s salvation…”
Sofia
ParticipantWell, thanks for being so nice about my abysmal ignorance
lol, granville, talk sense. 😛
Sofia
ParticipantBut when you read the novel for the first time, what did you think of that passage? I really would like to know. 😀
Sofia
ParticipantOhhh, I have one from an article 🙂 but my scanner isn’t working. 🙁 The article was about Shirley’s adopted daughter who died at the age of three, and how Steve (Shirl’s ex-husband) was pissed off with Blatty for having based The Exorcist novel on them. Especially the subplot about Chris’s son, Jamie, who died when he was three years old too.
Sofia
ParticipantAh and Jane, some of the pictures are rare, but they’re too small and dark. 🙁
Sofia
ParticipantAwww, dumbness? Not at all lol! I knew about the names but not exactly what it meant. I didn’t know until I’ve read Bill Johnson’s review! 😉 He’s a writer and wrote a review on the first five pages of the novel. It’s been online since 2000. Here’s the link:

His reviews are wonderful!
Sofia
ParticipantOh yes, Ju! I read the whole book in a couple of hours. 😀 The authors were a little disappointed with the movie, though, because it didn’t have the mystery of whether or not Regan was possessed. And Ellen Burstyn was in shock when Friedkin offered the role to Linda. She said that at the time of screen tests, Linda didn’t know how to act at all. The three finalists were Dana Plato,
Geri Reischl
and Linda. Friedkin really wanted Geri, but she had to drop out when her parents balked at the fact that the crucifix scene would be explicitly portrayed on screen. Linda’s parents were very open minded about it. -
