well I’ll never put PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST back on screen, artwork is fine.
The Title itself is something Is something that can be changed at the last minute.
I tell ya what I’ll do one with “THE” in it and post it.
T first I was going to use the first Exorcist prequel title that id herd of “EORCIST:DOMINION”
but I didn’t like the idea of actually haveing Exorcist in the title, because Merrin is not yet an Exorcist.Even though Exorcist 3 does not show Legion in the title, alot of people call it that, and thats what I prefer to call it, even if it’s not Blatty’s original cut.
So I kinda picturd the trilogy.
DOMINION.
THE EXORCIST.
LEGION.
to me When i think of “THE DOMINION”
it feels like calling the book or movie of Hannibal “THE HANNIBAL”.But I respect and value your Input,
So Never say never.I decided to do a test of some variations of the title desine but with a differnt font, I prefer the Font thats used in the movie, but my editing program is the one thing I cant seem to use the font with, it’s actually kind of creepy, Like im being told don fuck with the title anymore than I have.

I’ll see what I can do about uploading that to the internet again, it was really hard to do the first time, I usually only have small clips, it’s hard for me to get anything more than a few minutes, I’ll make no promises but I’ll see what I can do within the next day or 2.
Last night I was thinking about that fugly Pazuzu statue in DOMINION, I thought it would be neat if when the white light comes through the church dome, then into the cave, The Light somehow destroy it, I had the idea of it disintegrating, or cracking and falling to pieces, But I don’t have the software to do something as elaborate as I see in my head.
Then I Thought What if I just Blow the fucker to bits.
So I Put together an FX test With several composited images(more than whats noticible) Obviously it’s just a cheap quick test that actually looks very cheesy and laughable, At the Same Time I think that it is adds To Pazuzu’ Motivation in the Exorcist, Not Only Did Merrin Defeat him, But Through Merrins Faith bringing The Power of God Down To Clinse the place of Evil, His Precious Statue goes bye bye, The Demon is Really a Vain and Selfish and unintentionaly Houmurus being.
It Would Be great Smack in the Face For that Ugly piece of Shit to Blow to smitherins.I am posting a clip that contains 4 variations on this idea, But the cave is actually a still frame for this test, and it is crude even if I don’t use the idea I just had to try it.

Well Im ready to begin work again,
but there is a problem, its not with my computer or my software, it’s me.Over the past few days Ive had a chance to reflect on this whole project, And it’s somewhat depressing.
I’ll start at the beginning of this project, it started when I saw DOMINION:PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST.
it was a bootleg dvd, that I had paid $30 for and took nearly a month to receive it, I put it in the player, and the Movie starts with the opening Title fadeing away, I could barely make it out, but I was pissed, the studio was actually dumb enough to put “PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST” on screen.
it was an ugly camcorder version with sound problems, it was often hard to makeout objects onscreen, Big fat Pixels
all over the place it was so bad I couldn’t see how bad the cgi was.
But I loved the Movie itself, not wasn’t perfect, only a few come close, but I really Loved the Movie and felt Moved by the fact that here was an attempt to Make a real movie again, not a piece of shit like most of these horror movies these days.
I realized that this is not traditional Prequel, It Sets the stage for the Exorcist, but aside from that it is a Stand alone movie in it’s own rite.I waited outside BEST BUY, the day the official DVD was releasd, I was practicly the first Customer, and I bought my copy, and eagerly watched it, The Picture quality was beautiful, and rich colors, of course I finally saw the bad CGI and etc.
when it was over I thought this has some things that get on my nerves, The movies Subtitle, of course the bad CGI, but also the opening scene looked to bright an sunny and warm, even though it’s not supposed to be that way, then their were other little things etc.
I had been Video editing as a Hobby for a couple of years, and I decided to see if some of my ideas would work, I spent several weeks doing this, but I realised this could work if done properly, Then I spent the next couple months Experimenting, Developing some ideas and so on.
I had been viewing this websie since I first herd of the Prequel getting Greenlit and having neeson in it.
I read what people had to say about this Movie, I Finally decided to atempt
a FAN CUT of this film, I started work on what has become months of hell.
My constant problem was that I didn’t know much about compressing video files, A Problem I solved a couple months ago, But I kept redoing things because it looked or sounded like shit.
I was trying to use ideas from Fans, Some of them though are impossible, then I would try to make certain shots work and would spend weeks trying to do it, this went on for a while, eventually I found a way of compressing the footage that was atleast better than that damn bootleg dvd, and I had done about 40-45 minutes of footage that I felt at the time was good enough, then a few months ago my computer crashed and Lost most of my work because it wasn’t properly backed up, Then I had to start from scratch again, Then things started working, not very fast, but it was happening, and I finally found A form of compression that worked for me, then recently My computer started having some problems again, and I took a break to fix it, but at the same time I looked at all my footage, which I think is good, but falls short in many ways, then I watched the Official DVD of Dominion all the way through for the first time in since before summer, which brings me to where Im at now.since ive taken a fresh look at Dominion again, I actually actually see where I fucked up, Ive tried too hard, Ive over done and over exhausted myself, I watch my footge in total darkness and see all kinds of picture problems caused by some things ive done, but they look their worst during night scenes, when a character walks by they have a white ghostlike shadow that follows them, and so do other images, but of course this is in the night scenes, And I found the Problem.
Again Im the problem I was trying to go in such an ambitious direction, I got carried away by the fact that I could make certain changes, I didn’t stop to think if I should.
Ive Recolorized almost every scene, I made others too dark it causes the gostlike effect.Im still Pleased with alot of the new sounds, Fx and such, and my basic direction. But The reason It takes so long to do anything is because Ive done so much recolorizing, and tharequires not just cutting uo scenes but even shots within the scene, and then makeing things match.
All this Recolorizing has been tottaly unecesisarry and stupid, sure a couple scenes could use it but thats it, If I kept most of the coloring(which is fine) then Most of these cuts Ive made would not be needed, Ive spent weeks at a time recoloring scenes.
Im exhausted, warn out, and feel like croaking.
But I stoped and rememberd what to me is the maijor theme in the movie, REDEMPTION!
We loose hope, we dispair, But as Long as we are still breathing than we have a chance to change the path were on.What I would Like to do is take a rest for about a week, Then begin again, but Use my current footage is a gudluine to most of my good changes that I want to keep, But I Want to keep most of the movies natuaral color, I don’t want to darken scenes that don’t need it.
The Reaseon I still have Faith in this is the fact that since I started this project Ive Learned so much about editing, Ive devloped my own unique methods, in recent months I solved the compression problem.
I think if I rested for a little while, and then just Keep most things intact except for key Changes and elements, this is something I could Probably do within 2 months.It’s Paul’s Film, Im Just supposed to be Polishing it, not cutting it to pieces and the blindly stitching it
back together.Well???????????????

The sound is Something that is not quite finished, certain lines do need to be herd, this clip is actually a few weeks old, and there has been some tweeking since then, but of course had some problems that are being taken care of.
The Piece of music definetly stays, I was gonna test several differn’t types of music, and this was the first one I tried, I then tried some others but came back to this one, I felt it really captures the spirit of whats going on, and makes things feel a bit more epic.
The Ironic thing about it is the name of this Music.
I had already begun useing it, but was curious about the name because im not sure what language it is, but I looke around and found the english translation of the name “INCARNATION AND NATIVITY OF CHRIST”I thought this was a freaky and twisted place to have it, but it works.
There is a Little optical Light shot that I did, I was useing several difernt images of light, and compositing it over a few frames at a time, but quite unintentionally it turns out looking digital, and looks so simple but it was a real bitch to do.I respect your opinion Justin, But all I can say is please have an open mind and Look at the Whole cut of the Movie, But even if You still felt the same, I couldn’t blame you, as Ive said before, each fan has there own vision, this isnot the way I would have made the film, but Since the film exists as is, I have to work with it.
But It will be interesting who did worse in fucking things up, me or Harlin
I have to admit that I havn’t moved onto the HD and Blueray discs, I just dont have that kind of money for either player, But It would be great to see all the Exorcist films get put on these formats as well as an additional dvd release with. I would Love to see all cut footage availeble of each movie on disc even if its just bounus material,
the first Exorcist has defenetly gotten the best dvd treatment, but I think there is still more to present for that film, I would be nice to have some bonus features for Exorcist 2, and a Comentary by Boorman.
Exorcist 3 needs Special treatment bigtime, What ever footage exists of the original version, with Comentary by Blatty, interviews etc.
As for the prequels, I think the beginning should get an uncut version with all trailers and tv spots inclueded, I saw a vcd of an Uncut Version of ETB on an asian website, but I don’t know whats in it.
DOMINION obviously needs at least a 2 disc release like the dutch dvd, but even more, Morgan Creeck,WbB or Whoever, needs to finish this Damn Film And Actually give it a Real post Production, Finish all the Digitakl Shit Properly, Have an entirely original Score Done for the Film, Put back some of the deleted scenes and Lines, Give Fair treatment, and Please take “PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST” out of the opening title.I’ll get the bad news over with, The bad news is that Im haveing problems with my computer and certain programs, So I have to worry about fixing these problems rite now, and that puts a delay on completion again!
The good news is that 75% of the movie is done and backed up on disc(Thank Goodness) So when I get things working again, I won’t have to start over, I can just pick up where I left off.
but again badnews, Im not sure how long it will take to fix my computer, could be a few days, could be a few weeks, but hopefully a few days.This Will Probably be the Death of Me.
I was up all night last night trying to solve problems, I was able to take care of a few of them, it will probably be a couple days before im back on track.
Thank God it’s not too long taking long.

I must admits, at the moment, an extended version of something thats not finished is a bit Hypothetical, But it’s something can’t imagine not trying to do in the near future.
The Fan Cut is being done in 3 maijor sections, and will be put together for the transfer to disc, the first section runs about 43 minutes, it’s been Done for a several weeks, I had to make myself stop trying to make it perfect, otherwise id never be finished.
But When I consider The restrictions and Limitations of my software and resources, Im actually very pleased with those first 43 minutes, from my ponit of view it plays out with a bit more of an edge, And the tone is somewhat Darker, without destroying or compromising what the movie is overall.
Rite now Im still working on the second section, it’s a bit longer, it’s pretty close to beeing done, Im still tweaking things, and trying some last minute editions, But It’s pretty close being what I wan’t, It probably won’t be finished for another 3 to 4 days, By then it’ll be time to take a break for a couple days, catch my breath, take a look at it, and get catch up on some sleep.The third section already has the ground work laid out, Certain fx have been premade in advance to make it easier to finish in the long run, it’s probably going to be the hardest part to get through, But I am looking forward to it, Hopefully this Time next week work on it will already have begun,
But Im Looking at at least 3 weeks on that part, of course have to take time out for christmas, Then jump back to it.
My goal is To have a Master Copy by this Time next month, Then we’ll go from there.
I Perpusfully didnt specify when in January that I expected to have it Done.
But by the beginning of febuary someone on here will have seen it.Thanks M.I.K.E. for the input and Kind words.
Things would be very differn’t if I had better software, but I think the restriction has forced me to do things that are probably better for the movie.
And the hardest part Makeing the changes without destroying Paul Schraders Film, but Ive defently gone for more atmosphere, Good and Evil.I realy tried in vein to Cleanup the deleted scenes, But with the source being from the dvd, I cant make them much better.
However When Im Done with this, I might Could Go back and make an extended Version, for those who will accept the not so great quality, But first I have to Finish what Ive got.
