KeymasterThanks guys! Yes, it’s not long now until he is born (we know its a boy)… so long as he doesn’t come out with a Captain Howdy face that scares the life out of me!! Lol. Horrible thought.
Baby and mother are doing well.

Keymaster“As a community, we will bring this footage from the vaults to our respective DVD players.”
This IS still happening, all. Please keep faith. Your grand Captain has a lil’ Captain on the way 😉 and the project runneth overtime just slightly. Soon, I promise. Very soon.

KeymasterI sincerely doubt this is actually from the film. If it is, I sincerely doubt they should get more than a dollar for it…

KeymasterI don’t feel like the demon won. Not the war of the film we watch, anyway. We see Regan afterwards, normal and pleased and doesn’t remember a thing. A priest found his faith and saved the girl.
Furthermore, not once does the film directly dictate to the audience exactly what they should be feeling at any point. It is left to the individual viewer. This has always been one of its unique qualities. To suddenly paint a perfect picture and demand the audience feel safe and happy as the credits roll contradicts the two hours previous.
In terms of letting the audience take away from a film whatever they bring to it, The Exorcist is a rare flick that actually achieves this. That’s what makes it a masterpiece, and one of the greatest horror films of all time.

KeymasterHa! I will not be able to catch the episode – please give us a run-down if you see it, Blizzi!
Jason Stringer
KeymasterI don’t have it, either. eBay is going to be your answer, methinks. Hard one to find.
Jason Stringer
KeymasterSure will. It’s now on my radar for you.

KeymasterSorry Blizzi I have just knocked off work after a hard day – I will have these brilliant scans uploaded tomorrow!

KeymasterI hear ya, Mikey – I just think you’re forgetting to compare two things, here:
1 – the work of Tarantino & Rodriguez
2 – every other film out there. There is something genuinely special about their work that goes beyond the usual popcorn trash. I’m not saying they’re all-time classics or anything – but they’re guaranteed value-for-money every time.
…Except Once Upon A Time in Mexico… and SPY KIDS etc. Duds. 😛
Kill Bill was brilliant and I think a very clever way of mirroring society’s perception of ‘sign of the times’.
One thing is always going on behind the silver screen when their flicks play, and that’s genuine love for the production being presented to you. It’s not just about a beefy cheque from the studio; they desired and loved every frame that flickers past and it shows. I think that’s important these days and I take comfort in that because there isn’t much of it left.
E:TB was ALL about the money and not much else; and they SHAT on the film we love in the process.

KeymasterI care, granville 🙂

KeymasterComparing any work by Tarantino and Rodriguez to the absolute trash that is The Beginning is ridiculous.
C’mon Mikey, admit it – this thread was just a chance for you to slip on your conformative hat and join the other film-school Tarantino haters because he’s had success…

KeymasterI agree with Jay here, I think that’s what Friedkin wanted the audience to feel.

KeymasterIt resembles Morgan Creek insisting on powerful imagery to sell the film… which it didn’t.
April 10, 2007 at 11:59 PM in reply to: question about exorcist III legion special edition dvd #16921Jason Stringer
KeymasterI wouldn’t hold your breath, unfortunately. With DVD itself beginning to be phased out with Blu-Ray and HD, and the fact that Legion isn’t popular enough to turn any profit, there seems the studio is completely unmotivated about going back to do any re-cutting of a film which lost money.
As I understand it, Blatty’s original cut cannot be found.
The only way we’d see it again is if it were re-cut and included on a definitive box set which also included the original Exorcist to ensure sales (or something similar…).
A drive to launch a definitive release of The Exorcist with maximum features is getting underway from here at CaptainHowdy.com this month.

KeymasterI see it more as the soul of Karras coming forward despite being possessed; and therefore enabling him to make the choice to plunge to his death.
In other words, when his eyes stop being yellow, it’s not because he is no longer possessed – it’s because he has restored faith and is able to be the dominant soul in that body, even if just for a fleeting moment. Long enough to plunge out the window and end it all – until Warner Brothers demanded a sequel…
