Just picked up the BR for the 50th Anniversary of Psycho. Naturally, I went to the shower scene … best picture ever and best newly created 5.1 audio. Bernard Herrmann would shit his pants if he hear baby.

I keep walking past that in my local store wondering “should I buy it”? Is it worth it over the last DVD?

    Hi Jagged,

It depends on whether you want to enjoy the film with the BR enhancements and if you have the audio/visual equipment to display them on properly. I am fortunate that I do, plus, I enjoy this film a lot. I typically don't chance buying lousy transfers, so I read reviews on Blu-ray.com. Blu-ray.com users gave it a 5.0 out of 5.0. Most of the time, I somewhat ignore what the reviewer writes because the reviews are typically biased toward higher-end videophiles and it's one person's opinion. Here's the link for Psycho's review.

    1.  The Exorcist (obviously…none has been its equal…nor do I believe any will be).

    2.  ALIEN

    3.  Carrie

    4.  Exorcist III (Agreed, it is more like a crime drama, but it was good seeing George C. Scott in the role originally intended for him, and the return of Jason Miller.  And Brad Dourif did a great job as the Gemini Killer's spirit.)

    5.  The Omen (both versions)
