The Exorcist Blu-ray will feature the original 1973 theatrical release PLUS The Version You’ve Never Seen, arriving Halloween 2010

Ask and you shall receive.

Thomas K Arnold of Home Media Magazine fame has posted a scoop on his blog today that I suspect will come as a relief to many Exorcist fans looking forward to the upcoming Blu-ray release.

It now appears that TWO VERSIONS of The Exorcist will be available on the one release — The Version You’ve Never Seen, and the original 1973 theatrical release.

T.K. Arnold writes that Exorcist Director William Friedkin and Cinematographer Owen Roizman overlooked the restoration process on both films, which was completed last month.

The downside? The disc won’t hit shelves until ‘before Halloween’ 2010.  So we still need to wait about a year…

But hey, they’re giving us what we want. Not forgetting there is also a brand new documentary featuring William Friedkin and William Peter Blatty shot exclusively for the disc as well as other features are still to be announced. I’ll be keeping close tabs here on The Exorcist Fansite!

Thanks to Sean McCormack and Lord Westenra for the tip.
