Warner Brothers: The Exorcist Blu-ray release will be pushed BACK to 2010?

Seems The Exorcist won’t be hitting Blu-ray shelves this month as first anticipated. Now Warner Brother’s have announced that they will be releasing the new special edition version of The Exorcist on DVD and Blu-ray ‘sometime’ in 2010, and in the meantime they will be pulling all existing copies off the shelves…

This unfortunately means that, soon, getting your hands on the original copy of The Exorcist is going to become increasingly difficult, You see, the Blu-ray and special edition DVD re-release will feature The Version You’ve Never Seen and that’s all.

This is truly some unfortunately (and somewhat ridiculous) news from Warner Brothers.

Home Media Magazine broke the news here.

Their General Manager of their theatrical catalog tried to temper our anger by saying:
œWe know film fans will be eagerly awaiting the return in 2010 of these iconic films. And we’re going to make it worth the wait, with beautiful remastered prints, recovered previously lost footage, and exciting new bonus content all with the latest Blu-ray technology.

Too bad we don’t get to choose which film we want to see, Jeff. I just wish Warner Brothers had approached the fans about this one and asked what we would have liked. Seems like an opportunity wasted.
