ParticipantAha…..I knew it! I was right all along. It looks like Billy when he turns his head in the cab……something I've noticed for years. Thanks.

ParticipantThanks for this link…..I can't wait to see this!!

ParticipantFor those that have never seen either….I would recommend the original. I've always loved Friedkin's orginal masterpiece much more than “The Version You've Never Seen.”

ParticipantCash could have easily been a priest or a President…..the man was just simply larger than life…..with a true love for our Creator. His music proves this.

ParticipantI totally agree. It is like laughing on a roller coaster ride. Yes. But, I thank the heavens for Jason Miller and his timeless performance…..I'm sure we can all agree on that.

ParticipantI don't believe anyone would have “laughed” at Cash. He was bigger than life. I do find it troublesome, however, that many of today's youth laugh at certain scenes in the film because their shock value edurance has dwindled due to today's vile horror/porn/torture films coming out by the dozens. Cash was one of the most God fearing men in the history of entertainment. You wouldn't find me laughing.

ParticipantHere is a good book on the subject. It is called Hostage to the Devil: The Possession and Exorcism of Five Contemporary Americans….

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently it is Friedkin in the car. It looks like him if you pause the Blu-ray, too.
It looks exactly like him…..I'd bet money on it.

ParticipantSorry Father B….I meant the first post.

ParticipantYES…I actually did…different experience than when I saw it in Austin….In Austin, the crowd was so respectful…even applauding at the beginning and end….Here in SA….it was at 10:30 on a Sunday night….I thought the audience would be true lovers of this masterpiece…unfortunately, three kids sat behind us and heckled the film throughout….I left after the first hour and got my refund…The Exorcist is a film that is powerful because of its SOUND..the silences punctuated by loudness…..to have people talk, laugh and heckle the film was absolutely disrespectful and why I despise my hometown of San Antonio and why the screening turned out to be a disaster for me…..But hey, I tried.

ParticipantI love the part where Karras loses it after the demon taunts him as his mother…when he cries and his look of shame to Father Merrin….that scene just kills me every time.
Also, in reference to the poster who said that Merrin was choking….I believe he was actually gagging…..the demon either passes gas or has diarrhea…that is why she is cackling…and I believe it is straight from the book.jguthrie
ParticipantI’ve always loved the scene in the bar where Karras tells Rev. Tom that he’s lost his faith. Everytime I hear the Allman Brothers “Rambling Man” I think of that scene.

ParticipantI can definitely see how someone could find Karras’s character unsettling. His intense face, black hair, and brooding always gave me a feeling of uneasiness. And his inner personal torture seethes from his character. So I totally agree.
