You made her look like a stephchild i had a few years ago in a 'devilish' 1.5 year relationship i had back then. Dont worry it was a very sweet girl and i still miss her sometimes. Awesome pics, downloaded them all 😉

Linda doesn't look anything like my Goddess Regan MacNeil' of the novel , who was based on my Goddess Sachi MacLaine.

I love to edit Linda and Ellen on photo express to make them look like Shirley and Sachi. I recolor their hair to red, add freckles, a more delicate white skin, and finally make their noses smaller and faces shorter. Here are some edited pix:

Great photos! Or should i say great editing! Looks 'off' and thus eerie. Nice touch sofia. I downloaded a few.

Ok just remembered (with googles help)  that pazuzu also kept OTHER evil spirits out of mankinds way, i bet it had an agenda to do so, but either way, Its said to protect us from OTHER evil spirits.

I have to disagree with this.  The name Pazuzu doesn't appear until the sequels, which are abominations, in my opinion.  Pazuzu was conjured by the people that made those movies, not by Blatty or Freidkin, and is therefore untrue.  The entity that is possessing Regan in the first movie (and the only one that really matters) is Satan himself.

This idea is dismissed by most people and even Karras when he says, “It said he was the Devil himself.  That's the same as saying that you're Jesus Christ.”, but Karras is also sceptical that Regan is possessed at all and look how that turned out.  Also the statue in Iraq may be of a specific demon, however, it stood as symbolism of good versus evil, not Merrin VS. Pazuzu.  They only told us about his past exploits just to beef up his character a bit because he has very little screen time until the end.

    Father Bowdern said:

    Amanda,

Regan is possessed by the demon Pazuzu. “In Assyrian and Babylonian mythology, Pazuzu (sometimes Fazuzu or Pazuza) was the king of the demons of the wind, and son of the god Hanbi. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought (Wikipedia).”

At times during the film, it can be confusing about who is inside of Regan due to the various voices used. For instance, differing singular or multiple vocal entities emanate from Regan at various times. These are merely a part of the intentional mental illusions that Pazuzu exploits onto his victims in order to reach his ultimate goal of the grand showdown with Father Merrin in the film’s final exorcism scenes.

This is the very same demon in the initial scenes in Iraq when Merrin uncovers the small amulet head of Pazuzu, thus, opening something akin to Pandora’s Box. We see this same demon a few minutes later when Merrin is facing the large statue of Pazuzu at the archeological dig site. That scene is a crucial point because Pazuzu lost the battle against Merrin’s exorcism that lasted for months in Iraq. Pazuzu merely uses Regan as his instrument to find a way to even the score with Merrin.

    I hope that helps.

    Father Bowdern

''Also the statue in Iraq may be of a specific demon, however, it stood as symbolism of good versus evil, not Merrin VS. Pazuzu. ''

_Yes, but this statue is the actual symbol of pazuzu as i understand. It IS pazuzu. Wheter father merrin has a problem with it, thats father merrin's problem (for the movie). Proof of a demon is proof of a devil,. or should i say: the devil.  For all karras cared it could be the devil himself. Karras should take that much care, pazuzu saying: treat me as if i was the devil( and i am the devil! now kindly undo me of these straps(whats the specific scene  quote guys??)).

]Toetag: The statue is the statue of pazuzu, that the actual name isnt mentioned in the real exorcist movie is irrelevant. They used images of pazuzu. The real archeological image based imaged of pazuzu. Pazuzu who has good and evil meanings, considering different cultures around the world.

The good versus evil part of this movie was the sugar to make it taste better. It is an convieniant coincidence. I dont think that thats whats going on. (Good) Movies are rarely there to educate us in that simple manner. I think it shows us a way of the things that could be done. And not in the exorcist's way of putting it. But in the way that innocense and purity can be easily corrupted and can only be fought in live taking battles.(for instance).

If you want to refer to the good and evil symbolism, i want to hear (or read) you talk about the meaning of Merrin's death.

(btw in dutch pazuzu is has something to do with south-EASTERN wind..)

My gos. I know in other religions/mythes Pazuzu was also a protector of something earthly, but i forgot what. It was actually a 'good' demon, And it wasnt a demon in the way we think of demons doin just bad things. It was kinda like you mother firbidding you certain things were you would hate her for in the beginning. but love her for when you got older and more wise. I remembered this always struck me as this knowledge puts regan in a whole other perspective. As we all like to think of her as the 'good' beeing grounded by 'evil' (*btw im  waiting for the euro blueray release b4 i get back on this forum, To save me from beeing 'spoiled'. I bet you talk about all there is to see on the new blue ray) I will look for the link on my pazuzu knowledge. Bottom line: Country/region in the world and religion decide what part pazuzu has in tellings. This touches a nerve of the bible cos the bible has been rewritten and personas have been given different meanings. I know its just a movie. But the ground for this movie can all be found in human factual culture. Ill go look for it again.

Have to say i never believed in demons or a god or things like that. To me these things come from human imagination. A demon therefore, and all of its thoughts actings and behaviours, is something that is born inside the human mind. Regan is offcourse a human. Did i think that when i was 8? yes.its how i was born, its a key to who i am. Didnt had the exact words to explain myself in thatway at that time but it sure was already there. I just do not confirm to the concept of higher beeings or lower beeings or that one living thing is a more worthier living thing than another.
To me it was all regan. I have never even considered it to be possible that a demon or a devil sat inside her. I thought it was not possible(still think that’).
To illustarte± when my granddad died and i was 6 or so. I spoke out loudly to my grandmother that he really wasnt going to heaven)This wasnt taken lightly by her i was later told) because i had taken all time prior to the funeral, looking for the rocket or the airplane to take him there. And i didnt find 1. i still remeber having trouble imagining how he would go to heaven without a thing to take him there.

I was referring to the demon in time when it had full control of regan. To me it was ALL regan, i was like 8 back then, i never seperated the two from eachother for some (probably convieniant)reason. The Exorcist to me is a childhood memory, like herbie the love bug and (because of that movie i drive this 1972 pink bug with large rusted away holes in it for 8 years now) E.T.. To me the demon was just another side of regan.
I knew this question was coming hahahaha, when i wrote it down i asked myself the same thing…

Hia Emma! Can you be more specific about what you want to know?
Maybe youll get more people to answer you..

When i was young i remember i noticed people speaking respectfully and humble about the exorcist. It would be broadcasted on tv for the first time and i wish to remember the broadcast was announced like a year before. My parents had said i couldnt watch it because it was not for little childeren. Altough it was about a little girl(still an older girl than me at that time, but still a child like myself).Offcourse, forbidden things are the best.

They had recorded the movie on VHS and at some day when they werent at home, I put it in the videorecorder and watched it(i still remember exactly what our livingroom looked like then hahahaha) . I do not wish to go to deep in this matter, but for me seeing this little bit older girl than me going trough the things regan goes trough in the movie, made me feel like she was a superhero or something. She was bloody and wounded, had received many times more punishment than me. But in her eyes i never saw fear or a sign that she was breaking down(You must know that after regans eyes turned white and her throat swelling i got so fouly(good english word??) scared that i took up my father’s binoculair and watched most of the rest of the movie trough the large end of the binoculair to shrink our tv screen so i could see the movie, but very very far away.)

It comes down to that regan got more of a fighting spirit as her punishment got more severe. It filled me with respect for her. She never cried, she never asked for her mom and stuff like that. Offcourse this was all demon, but to me she was just a little girl like me doing better than me in a worse situation i.e: the worst possible situation she was doing the best a human beeing could do. Its just ever since i saw that movie i felt i found a soulmate, and i always wanted to look like regan like in my current avatar so people would respect me like i respected regan or something. It may sound wicked, but i feel about myself the same way regan looks troughout her demon posesssion.
For some reason i start crying now, lol.
This is btw very hard to explain in a foreign langauge, but i hope you get the idea.
its just ever since im seeking a similair effect when i choose a horror movie to watch. And i like all movies. im not a die-hard horror fan or something like that.

oh you posted like ayear ago. how good of me to already notice that.
if its still relevant : Female, 30(!PFffff!!!!)), Den Helder-Holland, and i dont know the english word for it but i work with elderly people who still live at home but need a little help.

And, actually, The Bad Seed'(1956) was one of the first movies about a truly evil little girl. Have you seen it?

im from the netherlands…stop laughing! i cant help it! no Karras, you dont want to live in a country where the concept of social living and equalness to all people is slowly transforming in a unstopable craving for money( yes money, i bet pazuzu itself invented this)

Actally i never heard of the bad seed.. is it any good?

HI THERE! Ok, case 39 most certainly is a very entertaining movie. Cant say i was scared at any given moment(these cheap sound effect scares are boring me to hell, like a long silence, and then all of a sudden a loud noise…so easy …so cheap, you can get people shocked even in a setting where a pink fluffy sweet as a pie care bear says BOOOO!!!! after a certain moment of silence.
There is in this movie a scene with a door that does just that.(silence..all of sudden a door closes with a loud bang…gay…. first fright-drawing moment of the film…..im like: gay! and boring! and why is this director not baking cookies and letting me make a movie?) but the tension of the film is great! and highly entertaining. Just dont compare it to the exorcist( in fact, dont u people let yourselfs ever be tempted to compare movies to the exorcist please, it was the first, but i strongly doubt that they invented the concept of little girls beeing a total scare, the exorcist crew were just the first ones to do it. and above that: they had the 70ies to put it in. If u knew the world back then. Only then a comparison would be in place) oye ..did you see the regan mcneil gown the girl was wearing at some moment in the movie?? it was like a tribute to our beloved movie..!! at first i said it was lame, but then my positive vibration took control and i stated it to be a tribute to the exorcist. ok whatever case 39 well worth watching.

(we were drinking bacardi cola and at this time the bottle was half full, yes friday!!!!) we put rec² into our stone-age dvd player and were extremely dissapointed. Not only because it is italian or spanish movie(thus euro and euro movies mostly mean a boring night and a total waste of time, money and salty peanuts), but mostly because it is blair witch project like filmed. YOU really need to be sober to get a hold of this nonsense cos u will lose track after about 2 minutes of movie. (IN europe we feel usa has invented movies and all euros are just monkey-ing making movies too. And euros tend to feel they are better at it because they add more humanity and drama(to the people of europe:adding crap, we got enough drama and humanity in our lives and we want escape through a nice movie.. ) in it. rec 2… waste of time and when u get the chance of meeting the director, please insult him heavily. And these spanish and italian dudes are mostly very proud of themselves so when heavily insulting him doesnt give you the desired effect please feel free to slap him around a little and insult him even so, just to make me happy)

serious man didnt make it into my mind because of the friday bacardi.. ill watch this movie tomorrow. but ive noticed its a humor movie so i wont post anything on it here
