I like both versions actually. The original is definitely the one to watch first. That is the Oscar nominated Best Picture. The VYNS is essentially more like the book. I’m not too nit-picky about sounds (both have great mixes), so I like both.

By the way, love the avatar Tyler Durden. 🙂

I will have to admit that it’s very spooky that sound

I noticed that sound the first time I watched it and have always been impressed by that element. There is a fair bit of that going on in The Exorcist, actually. Brilliant film. I should devote an entire website to it. Oh, hang on…

The original, of course. The castration of the score in the reedit is atrocious, the spider scene and the additional Pazuzu images are pointless and intrusive, and the upbeat, with the cliched quote, creates a clash (“Seytan” has an even happier ending, by the way – “Regan” visits Santa Claus! :P)…

    Hey guys!
here is my ranking, it is actually the TRUE-RANKING: THE BEST SCENE:
1.- THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELL YOU!
Absolute levitation of Reagan. She is almost is take away by dark forces.
2.- HEAD’S REAGAN TURN AROUND (“Did you
know what she did it, your doughting daugther…”)
3.- DAMIEN’S FATHER doubt about the demon, REAGAN is in the bed: Do it Again!, It would be a vulgar demostration of my power!
4.- The BED IS SHAKING (MOMMMM! Reagan shout)
5.- FUCK ME! FUCK ME! Reagan said, when
Psiquiatras at home, in presence of his mother.
6.- The Daemon become father damian mother, DEMI WHY DEMI! You ARE NOT mi mother!

A LOT OF CHEERS FOR EVERYBODY!

The original, though I only have that in VHS. I’m pretty sure it isn’t that hard to find here, at least it wasn’t a year ago, I’ve seen it in stores and shit. I’m a cheap bastard though.. should buy it soon 😛

I never noticed the colours were THAT different until Justin showed me though, I knew it, but I didn’t know it was that different and it’s REALLY ugly.. but that’s just my opinion

Doughting daughter? lmao thanks for that one :O made me a laugh a whole lot lol

I wish I could watch the 1997 version. I do prefer the original version but TVYNS is sort of…fun lol.
Everthing is just so blue in the 25th version(; I think in the old version when colors weren’t been touched, it has more the “documantry reality” Blatty wanted.

There are a few more sublim sounds. I’m gonna have to watch this little gem again (probably tomorrow night) and find the rest of them.

VYNS. I like it being longer, I don’t mind the blueish tint (think it feels colder and a little more surreal/supernatural – Karras’ mother on the bed seems to glow for example). I also really like more modern sound and picture – if only VYNS had a DTS-track too, then I’d have everything I could ever want from it.

It’s got to be the original everytime for me. TVYNS is too heavey handed with it’s subliminals & it’s attempt to explain everything undermines the movie. Where as the original poses only questions & allows the viewer to reach their own conclusions & thoughts.

I’m watching the film right now, only just finished the Iraq scene. One thing I’ve noticed, which is taken out of 25th and TVYNS, is that when the dogs are fightning near the Pazuzu statue, you can hear the MERRIIIIIN scream.
