I really do agree with this, I wanted either version , but mainly this one to have so much more, More talk between Merrin and the Demon, and far More o the Exorcism.
But as is, The Way I except how it plays Out is That During The Exorcism, so Much More is going on than whats just in the Cave, Merrin Knew what The very Probable outcome Of the Tension between the Solidiers and Natives Would Be If He Didin’t do it the Way he did.
And Ive always Felt That The Demon was Overcome by the fact That He did Not Expect Merrin To Hold on to his Beliefs and Not Give in When Tempted, The Demon Himself was not fully Prepaird For Merrin.
To Me this adds More to the Events in the Original, More to The Motives and Methods of the Demon.
