Sorry I don’t see them. If I remember correctly they went through a painstaking process to hand paint and remove every wire image.

In the second image, isn’t “the wire” really the corner of wall? If you look at the picture as a whole, the top part you have circled is parallel with the bottom portion of the wall. In the first picture (even at the highest resolution), I could say, “Yes, I ‘think’ I see the wire.” But, I really don’t. I know you tried to point them out, but I can’t see the “man in the moon” either … never could. 🙂

The corner is very clear. The wire is next to that, on the right. Look while you’re watching the movie, and you’ll see it moving. Maybe I can put together an animated GIF.

The last one is hard to see, but the other 2 are quite obvious. Look in the center for the wires swaying with Regan…

Wow, Justin – amazing work. The top animated gif is probably the best example. I still believe they did an awesome job concealing the wires, I guess because I’m like most, I was too engrossed in the story to be looking for things like this.

that’s cool how u isolated the wires. great job, Justin. The special effects were still good for what it was in those days. Today’s technology would be, just do it CGI.

I never really went looking for them, because frankly it has ruined the whole effect for me now… I just happened to spot them when watching TVYNS on DVD (it’s much easier to spot them in TVYNS, probably because of the clear picture compared to the original). Now every time I watch the film they really stand out.

Methinks a certain Australian, who posted right before me here, has what it take fors a SPECIAL fancut edition of TVYNS, eliminating such defects.

No pressure, Justy. 😉 Amazing work, indeed, on that animated gif. To tell you the truth, I STILL don’t see any wires, not even in the gif. 😮 I suppose I love this film too much and need professional help. 😛

Justin … Hooray! You are incredible at finding this and letting us in on the “secret!” I see the wires so clearly and I’m little embarrassed that I didn’t notice them before. I guess you’re right Justin, I’ll be looking for the wires every time I see the film again and again. 🙂 Congrats and keep up the good work!

Personally, I’m amazed that they didn’t digitally remove the wires for TVYNS.

For any future Blu-Ray release of either version, painting out the wires will be essential.

I remember having discussions about the wires with Justy. I can clearly see them. 😉

I have always seen them as soon I got the DVD version. I like to look for bloopers and mistakes and I always find them so many (not in the Exorcist…) On the screem I didn’t noticed them because I was too young and too scared…
PS: Lunuso, you have changed your name… I hope it was not because of my comment…

Just watched the exorcism scene with the levitation. If you have a DVD player that can do a backward selection X2, you’ll really see the wires.
